The start button doesn't start the dishwasher. All the other buttons lights up (so power is not the issue). If (huge if) i can get it to start the dishwasher works perfectly fine. I had sears out; waste of $100 "it will cost $500 to repair it; might as well buy a new one. The control panel cannot be replaced." - yes it can. Suggestions? worth fixing? easy to fix? help thank you

Hi Debbie, thank you for your question. That would really depend on what they meant when they said control panel. If they mean the panel which is just the part with the buttons, then that would be labeled your Control Panel with Touchpad. If the repair person meant the brains of your appliance, the board that controls all of the inner workings then that would be the part I linked below for you. At that point it would be up to you whether or not it would be worth it to fix. I know for the issue usually it's just the control panel and not the control board that is the issue. Both are pretty easy to replace. You just need to unscrew the screws around your inner door panel to open it up. Then you would just unplug everything. I would suggest taking a photo of everything before unplugging so that you have a reference on what wires go where. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
Can I just buy the touchpad membrane, rather than replace the entire assembly?

Has all wash cycle lights except rinse but won’t start. Should I pay for repair or buy new dishwasher?
