On the diagram the part number is Ap3902370 but that part doesn't look like the part I removed. Thje compressor overload protector is is open even when cold

Faulty start devices can cause the compressor overload protector to open even when the compressor is not heating up. The purpose of the start device is to apply energy to the starting winding of the compressor until the motor gets up to speed and then disconnects energy to the starting-winding while the run-winding continues to receive energy until the thermostat opens.
