Hello my dryer run and heat for about a minute then stop i get a code pf no other code shows up.How do i place the dryer in the self diagnostic mode? Thanks
For model number WED8000DW1
Hello Cleveland, thank you for writing. The "PF" code is indicating a power failure. Touch and hold the "Start" key to restart the dryer cycle, or press "Power" to clear the display, then reset the circuit breaker. To enter the dryer diagnostics, locate the "More Time" and "Less Time" push buttons on the control console, then within five seconds press and release the buttons in the following sequence: "More Time," "Less Time," "More Time" and "Less Time." I hope this helps!

All the console lights are working, confirmed the 240vac is there, door switch is working, belt is not broken. When I press the start button, 1 click then nothing else. I don't hear ethereal motor trying to start or anything else. Haven't tried the time up, down, up, down sequence for diagnosis yet, will try that next. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hello David, thank you for the great question. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend checking the drive belt. If it is not faulty, then you may need to replace the idler pulley, part number PS334244, to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!
The issue was the idler pulley. First I began opening up the front panel based on a youtube video but soon realized the model was slightly different and required a lot more items to remove. I saw the pulley in the back with nothing in the way so I put the front panel crap back on and removed the rear panel. There it was, very simple to re

I purchased the dryer repair kit with the drum belt, wheels and idler pulley. I watched the instructional videos online and it seemed fairly straight forward. Breaking down the dryer and replacing the pulleys was easy enough. My problem began when I tried to feed the drum belt around the idler pulley. After finishing the job, the dryer wo

Finally I figured out that the drum belt was not installed correctly around the idler pulley. However, I could not get it properly installed from the front of the machine so I tried from the rear still with no avail. I finally had to fish the old belt out of the garbage can that I had thrown away earlier. I lined up the old belt with the new one in the kit and discovered that the new belt was much smaller, so I put the old one back on the drum. Here's the lesson I learned...make sure the belts are the same size before attempting to install. The old idler was responsible for the squeaking and that stopped but I am still using the same old drum belt. Hope it lasts.
