Ice does not get water to make ice
For model number RF4287HAWP/XAA
PartSelect logo
Hi Earl, Thank you for your question. If there is no water going to the ice maker, the water lines may be clogged or frozen. If so, you may need to defrost the refrigerator. If it has been more than 6 months since you replaced the water filter, it may be clogged and you will need to insert a new one. If the water filter is fine, then you will need to check the water inlet valve for continuity with a multimeter to see if it is operating normally. Before removing and checking it, unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet. Before removing the inlet valve, look for any signs of leaks or loose connectors in the valve inlet supply. If no issues are found, inspect the valve body for any cracks or damage. Inspect the outlet tubing for any brittle tubing, abrasions, cracks, or any other damage. If you do not locate any leaks, disconnect the water inlet valve and remove it from the refrigerator to test it. Set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting and touch the terminals with the probes. You should receive a reading of 200 to 500 ohms. If you receive any other reading, you need a replacement water inlet valve. If the water inlet valve is operating normally, then you you will likely need to replace the ice maker. We hope this helps!

Checked the valve both have ohms of 390 still get good water at door. Is there a switch in ice maker to open water valve to get water there.we have hard water or could there be a build in that valve as to not open.
For model number RF4287HAWP/XAA

Hello Earl, Thank you for contacting us. Checking the ice maker we do not show a separate switch to open the water valve, but there is a control assembly inside the ice maker that tells it when to pull the water from the valve. It is also quite possible that there is something stuck inside the valve that could be causing it not to open. We have included a link to our video on the ice maker not making ice to better assist you. We hope this helps you.

water continues to dispense and will not stop
For model number RF4287HAWP/XAA
PartSelect logo
Hello Kathleen, thank you for contacting us. Based on our understanding of the issue, we would recommend making sure that the dispenser lever is not stuck or malfunctioning. Check if it is physically stuck and try to release it. If the problem persists, then you may need to check the water inlet valve, part number PS4175482, to solve the problem. We hope this helps.

Evaporator frozen (refrigrator section) and allowing top section to lose cooling
This is the Samsung French door refrigerator style that so many people have complained about freezing up and not cooling the top section. I first changed out the defrost thermostat and this did not correct the problem. I done a quick resistance check on the temp sensor that's mounted on the evaporator itself. The resistance would change when holding an ice cube on the sensor so I just assumed it was ok. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: When performing a resistance check on this sensor, make sure your readings match the Samsung temp/resistance chart in their literature. My sensor was way off calibration and was causing the freeze up. Its working as designed now and DW is happy again. Learn from my mistake.

Left side French Door flap on Samsung refrigerator didn't retract when closing.
OMG seriously! I stopped into my go-to appliance repair shop to ask about what might be needed to repair the problem with my refrigerator door. They said you will need to replace the Mullion Flap piece. Cost would be $250-300 with part, labor and service. I went on line to see if I could handle the repair process myself. I found a How to - U Tube video and turns out I only needed to replace a little spring and pin not the whole Mullion Flap. Went to Parts select, ordered the spring and pin and did the repair myself in about 5 minutes. Shipping was $7 so I ended up paying $13 total.

Installation Video Incorrect
The installation video notes that the door mullion spring has a bent end, and that the bent end of the spring is to be inserted into the LOWER hinge. However, on my refrigerator door, the bent end of the door mullion spring must be inserted into the UPPER hinge in order for the door to function properly. (Also noted that in your video the installer manually closed the door mullion rather than just closing the refrigerator door, another indication that the installation of the spring was incorrect.) After watching the video several times to confirm I was installing the door mullion spring according to the video instructions, I tried inserting the bent end of the door mullion spring into the upper hinge, which proved to be the correct installation of the door mull spring. What should have been a 5 minute repair turned into an ½ hour repair.
