Why doesn't my washer complete the cycle?
For model number MVWX500XW0
PartSelect logo
Hello, Thank you for your question. If your washer does not complete a cycle, the part that fixes the issue most of the time is the lid switch. The lid switch is a safety feature found on most top loading washing machines and it supplies power to the electronic control board and the motor circuits. To verify if it is working correctly, you will need to remove it from the washer and test it with a multimeter for continuity. Unplug the washer from the electrical outlet before performing any tests on it. Before removing it, begin by ensuring that no levers or actuators are damaged or sticking and that the switch is being activated mechanically when the lid is closed. If no issues are found when performing the above checks, remove the switch and set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting. While pressing and holding the switch button, place the probes on the switch’s terminals, you should receive a reading of zero. If you receive a different reading, you will need a replacement lid switch. If the lid switch is fine, there are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will also need to check the electronic control board, the timer knob, the drain pump and the water inlet valves. You will find the information on how to test these parts under Free Repair Help and Instant Repairman on our website. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!

Hi, there is grease in the drum of my Maytag washer model mvwx500xw0 serial number c04736493. Why is it there? What do I need to do? Is mainly within a 6" 8" section.
For model number MVWX500XW0

Hello Kate, Thank you for the question. This sounds like the Seal for the Tub has worn down. When the Seal wears down the oil and grease can make their way out of the transmission then that oil and grease can enter the washing machine's drum during a wash cycle. We suggest checking the seal for wear. We hope this helps.

Machine locks lid, starts sensing and the motor strains to move. Then stops and hums with lid lock light flashing. Cant power off. I have to unplug and try again, Have any ideas? I thought Maybe shift actuator and or capacitor. Motor and tub spin free!
For model number MVWX500XW0

Hello Frank, Thank you for the question. This sounds like an issue with the Lid Latch Assembly. The point of the lid switch is for the tub to stop spinning when the washer lid is opened. We hope this helps.

Grinding on spin!
For model number MVWX500XW0
PartSelect logo
Hi Antonio, Thank you for your question. If your washer grinds on the spin cycle, the washer may not be level or the washer has been overloaded. The grinding noise may also be caused by either a worn or damaged drive pulley or bearing. The bearing for your washer is sold with the gearcase. If you need help placing an order for a part, customer service is open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

Lid Lock light blinking, machine will not start
A detailed Service Technician Service Manual is hidden inside the machine on the front panel. It is hidden by the bleach dispenser input. It gives a list of fault codes and instructions for calibration after repair, resetting fault codes, and a manual test mode for stepping the machine through each mode on command. The Tachometer failed which would not let the machine come up to maximum spin speed. The tachometer is part of the solenoid actuator that shifts the transmission. It is not specifically called out in the manual. Any failure causes the lid lock light to blink which gives the appearance of a lid lock failure

Defective lid latch - Cabrio Washer
The instructions that came with the part were worthless. Essentially, unplug, put in new part, plug it back in. I spent a considerable amount of time on the internet and finally found a video showing how to open the top. Unlike other models, it is held down by clamps in the back rather than clips in the front. Once finding this information the installation was simple. Remove the clamps and the back of the console, slide the top forward and lift, remove and replace the lock and reassemble. You don't even have to remove the hoses.
