The compressor on my refrigerator never shuts off regardless of setting on temp control. Box getting too cold obviously. This is a controls issue cuz everything is working properly. Is there a thermistor somewhere in the unit or do you have to replace the control board inside the temp controller?
For model number MRT118FFFH01
Hello David, thank you for your question. We would recommend replacing the thermistor Part #: PS11727998. This is the part that takes the internal temperature of the fridge and relays it to the unit. I hope this helps.

Fridge works well but won't shut off at appropriate temp. It just continues to run. When I cut the power it will go back to normal working for a while but in a day or so it will go back to not shutting off, going down to 31 inside. Please tell me which part to replace, and the location of that part. Thanks!

Fridge keeps running, refrigerator in certain sections freezes up in door area, middle section, and other areas depending on food consistency. I unplugged fridge for 1 day to reset. No change.
Then I turned temperature from recommended to LOWER temperature - No change.
It is 0° - 10° freezer area. It used to have some water drip accumulated near light bulb area but seems to be always very cold now. No water drip.
Thank you for your help!
For model number MRT118FFFH01
Hello Carolyn, thank you for reaching out. Your refrigerator is running constantly and freezing food in random areas because the defrost system is likely failing. When the defrost heater stops working, the evaporator coil becomes packed with ice, cold air moves unevenly, and certain areas of the fridge get too cold while others stay warmer. This also explains why you no longer see water drip and why unplugging the fridge for one day made no difference, 24 hours often isn’t enough to melt all the internal ice. A full 24–48 hour manual defrost will usually confirm this, and if temperatures return to normal afterward, the defrost system is the source of the problem. The defrost heater is part number PS11752658. We hope this information helps!

My refrigerator stopped cooling and the freezer section stopped freezing
I knew the chances of all the freon leaking out was unlikely so I looked at the wiring to the compressor and there was a capacitor and a starter/overload so i figured I would start there. I went on line and found the parts at this site and they were less than the minimum service call charge for a service tech so I figured what the heck le

t's give her a shot so I did give it a shot. I ordered the parts and they were there in less time than a service tech could come out and i installed the parts and guess what for 90.00 in parts and 15 minutes in time I repaired my refrigerator. Thanks guys, It took less time to order the parts than it did to make the repair so thanks, your website rocks and is very well designed so my hat is off to you guys!

Evaporator Fan failure
The reason I repaired it myself was because the repairman that diagnosed the problem.didn't come back in two weeks. The evaporator fan sits behind a vented wall in the freezer and directs cold air into freezer and refrigerator.I removed the ice make assembly first and then the freezer wall held in place by two sheet metal nuts. Lights inside refrigerator not working
I used a flat-head screwdriver to pop out the old light rocker switch. Then, I unplugged the wires, plugged them into the new light rocker switch, and then popped the new switch into the hole. That's it! Lights began working again.
