This top load, direct motor coupled washer just started agitating through all the complete wash cycles. It shuts off at the end of the totally completed cycle with the tub full of water, without rinsing or spinning or pumping. I can then reset the control knob to the spin setting, it then starts spinning and pumping the water out and the shuts off after completing the spin cycle

My model has a flat cap on the agitator top, not a softener cup. I applied light force in a similar manner to the installation video for PS334650 but it didn't come loose. Can you confirm how to access the bolt on this model? Is there a trick or do I just need to use more force?

Hello J, Thank you for reaching out. You may need to use a flat head screwdriver to help pry up the Cap to lift it off of the Agitator. You could have a build up and may take some force to remove. We hope this solves your problem!

On this top loader Whirlpool, in the normal Heavy Duty cycle, whether light load or full, the washer fills normally and agitates for wash cycle but does not empty the soapy water. Timer advance to Rinse or Spin cycle, but nothing happens. I must pull out the knob at the end and advance to slightly past Spin to get it to empty and at least Rinse clothes with clean water twice as it spins to the end. Sometimes this happens on the Perm Press cycle too. Is it the timer unit that needs replacing or something else? How do I check? Thanks so much! This machine is a trusted workhorse and I don't want a new one!!

I replaced the clutch assembly because it wouldn’t always spin. My wife started a load and left the house; when she returned there was water in the tub, but she doesn’t know whether it ran the wash cycle. There seems to be no response from turning the control knob to various settings.

Machine will turn on and fill but the next cycle (wash) will not activate. Timer knob continues to advance, but no functions will operate after fill.

The job looked intimidating but turned out to be very easy. First take off the water pump by removing the two clips that hold it in place. Place a shallow pan under the pump to catch the water that is in the pump and hoses. Open the hose clamps with a pair of pliers or channel locks (better) and slide the hoses off of the water pum
... Read morep. The motor comes off next. Unplug the electrical connector from the motor and two wires from the capacitor. Remove the two screws holding the clamps in place and then pop off the two clamps. You will need to hold up the motor with one hand while you remove the clamps or it will fall to the floor once the clamps are removed. One piece of the coupling assemble will be attached to the motor and the other will be attached to the gearcase drive shaft. If you want to clean up the mess created by the shredded rubber center piece of the coupling assembly you will have to take off the motor mounting plate. It is held on by two bolts and removing it makes installing the coupling easier but probably not necessary. Push the back half of the coupling on to the gearcase drive shaft until the shaft is flush with the face of the coupling. Install the new rubber center piece on to the coupling then re-install the motor mounting plate. Install the other half of the coupling on to the motor shaft and lift the motor up to the coupling. You have to rotate the motor shaft by spinning the fan blades until the coupling lines up so you can slide it into the other half of the coupling. Then just reattach the motor, connectors and water pump in the reverse order of disassembly.
First pry off the cap of the agitator. Then using a socket remove the bolt that holds the plastic cup in place. Remove this cup by prying it loose from the two tabs that hold it in place. Once this cup is removed you can get to the broken cogs. Slip the new cogs into the underside of the cup, and slide the cup back down in the a

(You may want to remove the entire agitator and assemble everything upside down, then flip it all back over to mount, so the cogs don't fall out). Tighten the bolt, snap the cap back in place on top of the agitator and your'e done. Easy repair.
