Finding ice in bottom of baskets and door froze shut
For model number LGHB2867PFHA
PartSelect logo
Hello Kathy, thank you for your question. When you are having temperature problems in your fridge, there are a few parts that could cause the issue. You can use a multi meter to test these parts. Make sure you cut power to your appliance before doing any repairs or tests. First you should test your defrost thermostat, part number: PS12114528. Place the thermostat in ice cold water for 2-3 minutes after removing it from your appliance. It should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. Another part to check would be your defrost heater, part number: PS2369212. Remove it from the appliance. It should be reading anywhere between 0 - 50 ohms to be working. You could check your temperature sensor, part number: PS1765215. To find the correct reading for this part you will have to refer to your tech sheet that comes with your appliance. You can usually find this tech sheet behind the bottom grille of your fridge on either the right or left side. These are the most common parts that cause this issue in your appliance. So, it is suggested you check them first. We hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Where is the air filter on this model located. I can't locate where it gies.
For model number LGHB2867PFHA

Hello Bill, thank you for your query. We have found that the air filter is located in the fresh food door, under the utility bin. You may follow the following steps to install the new air filter: 1- Open the air filter door. 2- Remove the old filter and discard it. 3- Unpack the new filter and slide it into the housing. The open face of the filter should be installed facing downward. 4- To close the air filter door, push the top and bottom to lock the door closed. Press and hold the air filter reset button on the control panel for three seconds. When the display changes from replace to good, the status has been reset. 5- The Air Filter Reset will turn itself off after a few seconds. We hope this helps!

The ice maker stopped making ice in the top. It started making a noise when the fan came on. After investigating it I noticed ice in the back of the ice maker on the inside wall and after further investigation I found ice on the outside in the back of the refrigerator. I’m assuming the noise is from the fan hitting the ice but what is causing all of this ice?

Hello Pam, Thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like the ice maker may be overflowing and/or the defrost system isn't melting the ice properly. You can try defrosting the ice with a blow dryer, but we would also recommend checking the ice maker defrost heater, the ice maker defrost thermostat, the defrost thermostat, the defrost heater, and the water inlet valve. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, we have videos available to assist you. Good luck with your repair.

Ice maker wouldn't change from crushed to cubed ice
First I pulled the ice tray out so I could see the solenoid housing/ice tray support(1 unit). Below the ice tray there are 2 screws that hold the solenoid housing/ice tray support. After removing those the assembly lifts up so you can see the wiring harness to disconnect. I pulled it out and removed the 2 screws to open it up. There is 2 screws holding the solenoid in place and one ground wire. This was an easy fix and I know I saved a lot of money.

Ice maker was not working
Simple three steps... 1) There's an front section to the ice-maker to take off. One Phillips screw is on the side, one screw is underneath near the inside of the refrigerator wall. Just unscrew and store. 2) There's a small plastic unit just inside the ice maker to take out. It's held in by a small nut that requires about a 4" extension to reach. (You may be able to unscrew the nut with small needle-nose pliers). Just unscrew and take out the unit - the unit functions just to keep the ice maker wiring in place. 3) The wiring looks a mess, but there's just one wiring connector to the ice maker assembly. Unsnap it. The ice maker is not screwed in, it just slides in -- reach in and pull the assembly straight out; when it stops, lower it a bit and it will come free. Reverse the instructions to install the new unit.

My fridge temp was warm. Freezer temp was ok, but fluctuated some.
I checked the dampener, it worked. The compressor and fan worked. I knew because my freezer was still hovering around 10 degrees. Coils were clean. Thermistor was the only thing it could be. Took all my shelves out. Removed four screws. Took the back panel off. The thermistor sits tucked in on the side. I piped it out, in clipped it. Used my multimeter to test the numbers. Numbers were off just a bit. Ordered the part. Crossed my fingers.,took less then 5 minutes to put the part in. Plugged in the fridge. It was sitting at 33 degrees in about an hour and a half. I can’t believe I fixed it. I knew NOTHING about refrigerators. For how big my fridge is, it would have cost 3,000 and up to get a new one with the same cu ft size. Instead, it cost me $44. That includes shipping. Thank you Parts Select!! Made it so easy to pick the correct part for my model fridge!
