HMG23972B (BM7B09A) Admiral Refrigerator - Instructions

I removed control knobs and a couple of screws and forced the assembly down enough to remove the old thermostat, and insert the new one. Lucky me it was a identical replacement item. Job took about an hour.

I didn't. Don't know how to get to light bulb to change it for this specific model

First I unplugged the refrigerator. Next item was the ice-maker; remove (3) screws and unplug it from the back wall. Third task is remove the (4) screws that attach the back wall of the freezer compartment. Lift the wall up enough to dislodge the center cooling shaft that the fan rides in and remove the rear wall. The last item is the fan motor which is attached to the freezer wall by (2) screws and (3) wires which are easily removed. Change out the motor and reassemble freezer compartment .

Add the new one it was slightly different than the original but it worked out perfect.

Ordered the leveling bolts, very fast shipping, parts correct as shown. Purchased a condo by the shore, frige had no levelers, they went in smoothly & was done in no time.

Removed the ice brucket,
Removed the light shield by releasing one screw using a nutdriver.
Replacing the bulb and reinstalled the light shield.

Emptied the freezer and removed the door. Removed the screws from the gasket and replaced the new gasket and lined up the new gasket put the door back on then the door would not close right. Fixed the problem.
Now the Referator removed all the food off the door and removed the door. Did the same as freezer and the door was having trouble closing. And the gaskets were not fitting right by not fitting tight. So we have to use a heat gun to make the gaskets fit tighter on both freezer and refrigerator. It also took the two of us to handle the job.

I tilted the unit back enough to scew the new legs into the threaded holes.

unplug the refrigator, remove everything from
frezer compartment. remove ice maker three screws and un plug. remove rear panel 4 screws
remove motor bracket from rear panel 4 screws
unplug motor . replace motor and reasemble in
reverse order. the new motor is very quiet.

I took several screws out at one time because the new gasket had holes in the gasket. The screw had to go through the holes in the gasket. The old gasket just popped behind the grove on the door panel. After the gasket was installed I used a hair dryer to relax the gasket and it contoured to the door and refrigerator opening. The repair was successful.

The hardest part was taking out original light bulb because screws on shield where hard to unscrew after all this years . The old bulb vent out leaving neck in socket. It took narrow electrical pliers to get neck out .The generic appliance bulb did not fit and had aluminum neck ,not recommended for brass sockets in ovens.Putting new light bulb in was not the problem.

My husband took the plastic cover off and took out old bulb and screwed in the new one. Then put the cover back on.

2. Removed old bulb
3. Screwed in new bulb
4. Replaced glass cover
5. Mixed drink & baked cupcakes
