How to change evaporator motor
For model number GFE28GMKGES
PartSelect logo
Hi Alan, thank you for reaching out. The evaporator fan motor is located inside the freezer compartment. To replace the evaporator fan motor, you need to go through the following steps: First, open the freezer door, and now remove the drawer from the freezer and slide it out. Then, remove the door from the door rails, and then remove the freezer drawers. So your next step would be removing the evaporator fan coil. Remove the fan cover by taking out the tabs, then unplug the wire harness plug and take out the harness from the holder and pull it out, let it hang, and remove the motor itself. Pull the motor frame out, and then slide it out. So your next task would be peeling off the white felt seal from the old fan motor, starting at the end, and trying not to break it. Install the felt seal onto the new fan motor, starting from one corner to the other, and it is ready to go into the fridge. So now you will be going to install the new fan motor, plug the harness and lock the tabs of the cover back in the channel and press it after installing the fan cover. Now install the drawers and the door back. We hope this information is useful!

my refigerator was warm but the freezer was cold and working correcttly
I went to a GE repair center to explain my problem, the service center reccomended that I have a techinician come out o look at it. $75.00 for the visit and what ever labor and materials wuld cost.

I went on line to see if there were others having this same problem and found that there were many with the same problem.

fridge side freezes some items
went to your website and viewed exploded view to find the sensor( there are two I just picked one to replace for now), pried the cover off carfully and pulled out the sensor. I snipped the wire in the middle leaving plenty to work with. I shortened the wire on the new piece, spliced the wires together and with some 3M rubberized, tape wrapped them up, replaced the sensor back into the cover and snapped in place.
