The best way that I can explain this is by thinking of expansion or contraction. Every time we use our dryer, after we are done the dryer plastic makes an expansion/contraction noise. Seeing that it is hot I would have to say the plastic is cooling back down causing this noise. It actually goes on for hours. Any idea which piece in the door this might be. Is there like an expansion seal that maybe is missing. Dryer is new(less2 years ). Any help would be appreciated it is rather annoying.

Hi Christopher, Thank you for your question. If the door makes a noise like it is cooling off after the dryer has shut off, it may be the inner door panel where it faces the heat from inside the dryer. Parts can expand and contract when heated. There is also a door seal listed with the door. You will need to inspect the parts on the door to see where the issue is. If they are worn or damaged, they will need to be replaced. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Mead, thank you for reaching out. Clean your lint filter after every load. Inspect and thoroughly clean the entire exhaust vent system leading outside. If it is fine, the issue could be with the high-limit thermostat, part number PS12749247. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!

Loud banging/thumping noise when dryer was running. Bearings on tub rollers worn out. Poor design.
Could tell from the sound it was making that it was related to drum rotation. Searched online videos on how to disassemble this model GE Dryer. The Dryer drum rides on 4 rollers. 2 of the 4 of mine were very noticeably loose and made a similar noise when I spun them by hand. Simply replace the rollers and re-assembled.

I could type out instructions, but it's much simpler to just search for the right video online.
