How do i change a water filter
For model number GFD28GSLCSS
PartSelect logo
Hello Frances, thank you for reaching out. We are providing you with the instructions that will help you in replacing the water filter. Remove the cartridge by opening the filter door and pulling on the bottom of the cartridge to disengage it from the filter clips. Swing it outwards until you hear a click sound. Twist the cartridge one quarter turn counterclockwise. After twisting, remove it by pulling it away from the holder. Align the new filter with the holder with the word "FRONT" facing the top of the unit. Push the cartridge towards the rear of the unit until it is fully seated. Twist it one quarter turn until the word "FRONT" is facing the outwards. We hope this helps!

The lights inside are extremely dim to the point that the interior is almost dark. Is this the result of a bad switch, or, could the lights themselves be going bad?

Hi. My refrigerator is 43 degrees while running. The freezer is -2 degrees. I replaced the following: thermistor on evaporator behind the big drawer, the defrost timer, the defrost heater. No change. Before repairs: refrigerator lowest temp was 38.9 degrees. The freezer was -4. I've vacuumed the coil in bottom opposite the compressor. Also not sure if I put the thermistor on the correct pipe. Also not sure about defrost sensor. Please help. Thanks so much

It controls the various features and function of the refrigerator, such as temperature regulation, ice production, defrost control, and energy usage. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!

my refigerator was warm but the freezer was cold and working correcttly
I went to a GE repair center to explain my problem, the service center reccomended that I have a techinician come out o look at it. $75.00 for the visit and what ever labor and materials wuld cost.

I went on line to see if there were others having this same problem and found that there were many with the same problem.

fridge side freezes some items
went to your website and viewed exploded view to find the sensor( there are two I just picked one to replace for now), pried the cover off carfully and pulled out the sensor. I snipped the wire in the middle leaving plenty to work with. I shortened the wire on the new piece, spliced the wires together and with some 3M rubberized, tape wrapped them up, replaced the sensor back into the cover and snapped in place.
