Refrigerator started cycling on and off continuously and now the freezer temp has increased by 10 degrees and refrigerated side as well to 50 degrees. What part is failing?
For model number GC5SHEXNS03
Hello George, Thank you for writing. Short Cycling can be caused by several issues including: An incorrectly set thermostat inside your refrigerator. Dirt and dust on the coils that prevents efficient operation It may be that the Inverter Board PartSelect Number PS8760019 may be failing. Also, check the Control PartSelect Number PS896148 with a multimeter.

What could be the problem when the unit goes off and on? Not cooling
For model number GC5SHEXNS03
Hello Raymond,
Thank you for writing in. Our research has found: On that model (GC5SHEXNS03), cycling on and off + not cooling is almost always a failure in one of a few key systems. Based on your exact symptom, here are the most likely causes:
?? Most likely issues
1. Inverter board (very common for this symptom), PartSelect #: PS8760019
This board controls the compressor speed
When it starts failing, the compressor cuts in and out
Leads to temperature swings and poor cooling
?? This is one of the top causes when you see on/off cycling
2. Condenser fan motor not running properly, PartSelect #: PS1957416
If the fan cuts in and out, the unit overheats and stops cooling
Can cause:
Intermittent cooling
Compressor shutting off early
?? Check if the fan at the back is running consistently
3. Main control board issue
Especially if the unit:
Randomly shuts off
Lights or controls act strange
Power surges or age can damage it
4. Compressor starting problem
Bad start device or failing compressor
Symptoms:
Clicking sound
Starts, then shuts off quickly
5. Defrost system failure (less likely but possible)
Ice builds up on the evaporator
Airflow gets blocked ? unit cools briefly, then stops
Very common on older units
?? Quick checks you should do first
Listen:
Does it click every few minutes? ? start device/compressor
Look behind unit:
Is the condenser fan running steady?
Check freezer back wall:
Heavy frost = defrost issue
Clean condenser coils (if dirty, it can short-cycle)
We hope this helps.

Replaced Two Broken Tracks
The old tracks had been falling out consistently, causing the deli tray to fall on top of the food below it (which included the eggs, though none were broken since they were in a hard plastic container).
I had some difficulty getting the new track installed, however. All the parts lined up, but I just couldn't get the tracks t ... Read more o slide into place. After some brute force and about 10 minutes, they were finally installed.
Best thing about it is that it doesn't appear that these tracks are coming out easily! Mission accomplished!
