on the front of the door is a panel to set the temp for freezer and refrigerator it will not show the numbers or let me go up or down for the temps

My frig freezer setting is 0 and refrigerator is 33 C I keep finding a sheet of ice developed on the bottom of the freezer cabinet there is rust developing on the front bottom metal. Will changing the Defrost thermostat resolve this issue?

On the left control panel on the outside of the door is says "control locked" what does that mean

Glad to hear from you. When "Control Locked" shows up on the display, you are unable to change settings on the display. Press and hold "Control Locked" for 3 seconds to turn it off. We hope this helps!

The site says this water filter is no longer available. What can you suggest we do other than buy a new refrigerator?

... Read more valve assembly in place. I took the water valve out and removed the electrical connections as well as the plastic tubing which feed the water dispenser and the ice maker. To install the new water valve it was just a matter of reversing steps.
