Is there a way to access the drain tube between the fridge and freezer? water is dripping onto the top rack of the fridge in the back, collecting in a bowl to catch. 2 cups of water every few days. Is there a tube or way to shoot hotwater into something to un'freeze a passage way?
For model number FFTR1814QW0

Hi Glenn, thank you for your inquiry. Your defrost drain line has frozen over and will need to be thawed out. If you take everything out of the freezer, you will be able to remove the panel at the very back (inside the freezer). Once off, you will see the aluminum evaporator coil. At the bottom of that coil is a drip tray that funnels the defrost water to the condensate pan below the cabinet. That drain line is plugged. Use a hair dryer to thaw all the ice out and locate the drain hole. Pour hot water down the drain hole until it is draining properly again. Once it is draining, properly blow compressed air down to make sure it is clear. If you do not have compressed air, use a turkey baster to make sure the drain line is clear and draining properly. Cut a solid copper piece of wire about 6 inches long. Wrap it around the defrost heater a couple times just above the drain hole and extend it 2 inches into the defrost drain hole. That will transfer heat into the drain hole when the defrost heater turns on and will prevent the defrost drain line from freezing over in the future. Replace the defrost drain hose, part number PS430889, if it is damaged or if you can not clear a clog from it. We hope this solves your problem!

MY FRIG SRTOPPED MAKING ICE. I THINK ITS THE MOTOR. Does not cycle. Need parts. Ser. BA51241808
For model number FFTR1814QW0
PartSelect logo
Hello Eloy, thank you for reaching out. Turn the refrigerator off for 24 hours because there could be a water line in the wall that is frozen, which could take a long time to thaw out on its own. Other than that, probably the best thing to do is determine if the icemaker is not cycling and calling for water, or if water is not actually making it to the refrigerator. First, make sure the freezer is below 10 degrees because the icemaker will not cycle if the temperature in the freezer is over 10 degrees. Next, fill up the icemaker with a cup of water and wait 24 hours to see if it cycles and dumps the ice. If it does not cycle, replace the icemaker, part number PS10057479, because it is just bad. If it cycles but does not fill up with water, check the fill tube behind the icemaker and if it is frozen solid, use a hair dryer and thaw it out. You can also make sure it is not frozen by disconnecting the water line coming from the icemaker and going to the valve at the valve. Blow through the waterline to make sure it is clear. If it is not frozen, you will need to replace the electronic water valve on the back of the refrigerator, where your water supply line from your house connects to your refrigerator itself. We hope this helps, good luck with the repair!

There is often water sitting on the bottom shelf of the fridge. Nothing has been spilled in the fridge. I removed the fridge control panel to see if the catch pan for the freezer drain tube was blocked, but it was clear. What else might cause this?
For model number FFTR1814QW0

Hello Veronica, Thank you for your inquiry. We would also recommend checking the drain tube and drain connector for any clogs or damage. Also did you check both the drain trough and drain pan in the back of the refrigerator? We hope this helps and if you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!
