tHIS WALL AIR CONDITIONER WAS RUNNING WHEN THE HOUSE WAS STRUCK BY LIGHTENING AND THE POWER CORD IN THE WALL BLEW UP. iF WE REPLACE THE CORD, WILL THE UNIT STILL WORK? THANK YOU ALSO, What ARE THE EXACT MEASUREMENTS AND VOLTAGE? I bought this at Lowes in 2009 and the model number only has one A at the end not 2.

Hi Gretchen, thank you for reaching out. Sometimes replacing the cord after the lightening resolves the issue. But the control board can also be affected by the lightening and can be fried. If replacing the cord did not fix the issue, you will need to replace the control board, part number PS2333874. The dimensions of the model are: 17.75" H x 23.63" W x 25.37" D, and the voltages are 230. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week!

How to add coolant
For model number FAM187S2A12
PartSelect logo
Hello Bryan, thank you for reaching out. We are providing you with the instructions that will help you in adding the coolant. 1- Slide the unit out from its cover. This may require a screwdriver. It usually slides out the front. Place the unit on a table where you can work on it. 2- Look for a service valve. It will look similar to a tire valve with a cap on it. This will be on the low pressure (suction) line to the compressor. There will be two copper lines connected to the compressor; the low pressure side is the larger of the two. 3- Connect the refrigerant can to the end of the hose of the Freon refill kit with the turn screw on it. Turn the screw all the way in to pierce the can, but do not turn the screw out (open). 4- Remove the cap on the AC unit’s service valve and connect the other hose from the kit to it. 5- Plug in and turn on your AC unit with the temperature turned down to call for cooling. If it has knob controls rather than digital controls, turn the knob to Lo Cool. When the compressor starts, the needle on the gauge should move to the far left side of the scale. 6- Open the turn screw on the Freon refill kit to put Freon in the window AC unit. 7- When the gauge reads approximately the correct pressure, close the turn screw to stop the flow of refrigerant into the AC unit. 8- Turn off the AC unit, remove the refill kit hose. Put the cover on and reinstall your AC in the window. We hope this helps!
