The washer suddenly emitted heavy smoke when fron door opened. Tried to replicate with small load but it repeated.
No obvious smell from back of unit and large drive belt is sound.
Thank you for your interest.

Hi Richard,
Thank you for your question. If you are overloading the washer, this may cause the washer to vibrate more and may short-circuit the electrical parts in the washer. If the wiring connections in the washer are loose or damaged, they can overheat and may cause a fire. This issue may also be caused by a seized a drain pump. You will need to inspect the washer and verify where the smoke is coming from. We hope this helps!

Is the door on my washing machine adjustable?
For model number EFLW317TIW2
Hello Jan, Thank you for your inquiry. According to the manufacturer, it states that the door is reversible on only on their 400, 500 and 600 series, but not on the 300 and according to the factory parts catalog, this model number is a 300 series, so it is not possible to reverse the door. We hope this helps.

latch broke, door wouldn't shut, washer wouldn't run - no fun
I googled the problem, read the recommendation found the part and read that it was an easy fix. Took the broken part off the door and noticed the broke off piece was in the latch on the machine. Ordered the two parts, paid the $30 2-day delivery. Parts arrived and the machine was up and runnning in under 5 minutes

Door lock wouldn't.
Remove two screws on attachment plate slide door lock plate out. Disconnect wire harness. Remove two screws on back side. Then reverse the process, done!
P.S. don't pay $32 for next working day it still took 3 days to arrive. doesn't help when your leaving in two.

Washer door always needed to be slammed to shut and finally the latch broke.
Unscrewed the two screws holding the latch and screwed on the new one. Took less than 5 minutes. The best part was that I ordered the latch on Friday and it was delivered on Saturday!
