How to clean the drip pan?

Hi Benita, thank you for a very interesting question. The evaporator drip tray sits below the evaporator in your refrigerator. You can clean a drip tray using a household bleach solution. Use one part bleach to two parts water, and mix it thoroughly before applying it to the pan. Leave the bleach on the surface for a few minutes before scrubbing any dirt away and rinsing it with water. If your drip pan is moldy or smells unpleasant, you can leave the bleach solution on for longer. This will help remove stubborn mold and kill any bacteria causing the odor. Dry your drip pan thoroughly before replacing it. You can wipe away any leftover water using a kitchen towel or allow it to dry naturally on the draining board. We hope this information is useful!

How do I get to the drip pan to clean it on my Whirlpool Refrigerator Model #ED5LVAXWQ00? I recently cleaned the coils and I don’t see how to get to the drip pan and the manual doesn’t say!

Hi Benita, thank you for the question. Please follow the given instructions to access this part:
First, remove the back access panel with a 1/4 inch nut driver, and pull the lower half of the cover away from the fridge, then you should be able to pull it out of the tabs and remove it. Next, use a 1/4 inch nut drive to remove the screws holding the water inlet valve in place and carefully pull it out and disconnect the water tube. You may have to remove the clamp from the water supply line to allow for some slack. Now go around to the front of the fridge and remove the bottom kickplate. There should be a locking tab on each end. Use a putty knife to release the tabs. Remove the water filter housing by first unhooking the support bar and use a 5/16 nut drive to remove the screws holding the housing to the frame. Carefully pull the water filter housing out and set it to one side. Now you should be able to pull the drip tray out. We hope this information is useful!

Door handle loose

Hello Gregory, Thank you for the question. You can grasp the handle with both hands and push upward to slip the handle from the mount. This will expose the screw you can tighten. Then you can slide the handle downward on the mounts to reinstall. We hope this helps.
