Changing the cutting blades
For model number 917289223
Hello John, thank you for the great question. Use the following instructions to change the cutting blades:
1. Raise the mower to the highest position to allow access to the blades.
2. Remove the blade bolt by turning it counterclockwise.
3. Install a new blade stamped "grass side" facing the ground.

How to change the oil
For model number 917289223
Hello John, thank you for the question. Use the following instructions to change the oil:
• Be sure the tractor is on a level surface.
• Oil will drain more freely when warm.
• Catch the oil in a suitable container.
1. Remove the oil fill cap or dipstick. Be careful not to allow dirt to enter the engine when changing the oil.
2. Slide the oil drain extension from the docking position on the engine blower housing and extend it outward from the engine.
3. To open, twist the cap counterclockwise.
4. After the oil is drained completely, replace the cap and twist it clockwise until it stops.
5. Re-attach the oil drain extension to the engine blower housing.
6. Refill the engine with oil through the oil-fill dipstick tube. Pour slowly. Do not overfill.
7. Use the gauge on the oil fill cap or dipstick to check the level. For an accurate reading, tighten the dipstick cap securely onto the tube before removing the dipstick. Maintain the oil at the "FULL" line on the dipstick. Tighten the cap on the tube securely when finished. We hope this information helps!
