Just bought a home with this model water softener. It is set to regenerate at 2am. Does it automatically regenerate when it’s needed or do I have to set it to regenerate? I forced a regeneration today and it used about half the salt. It was filled to level 4 and ended at level 2 on the markings inside the softener. Is that typical? This softener is about 7 1/2 years old. Thanks in advance for your answer

Hello Dom, thank you for reaching out. Your model has an automatic regeneration feature. The softener's default recharge start time is 2:00 AM. This is normally a time of day when water is not being used in the household. Hard water bypasses the softener if the household draws water during the recharge cycle. If a different recharge start time is desired, press the UP or DOWN buttons to change the time in 1-hour increments. Be sure AM or PM is correct. When the desired recharge start time is displayed, press the SELECT button, and the display will change to show one of the "Salt Type" screens. We hope this information is useful!
