Broken Dryer Knob

First let me just say that Partselect.com is now one my stored favorites in my web browser. I came home from a business trip and saw a pair of pliers on the dryer. I thought that was odd until my wife informed me that the knob on the dryer had broken. So she was using the pliers to select the cycle. Somehow she knew where the missing pointer was actually pointing. Since the dryer was over 5 years old I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade both appliances. Not with my frugal wife. Demo stove exhaust fan and tile backsplash, install over range microwave, rotate exhaust fan and adjust exhaust plenum.

Whirlpool Microwave was purchased as used item, so installation in a new location required purchase of mounting template, wall bracket, mounting hardware. Granite backsplash cut out using wet/dry diamond blade and Ryobi 6.5 inch saw. Microwave exhaust fan removed and rotated for upward exhaust using modified exhaust plenum from existing stove exhaust hood. Installation of Microwave was the simplest part of the job. All mounting materials worked as required. A list of the materials provided in the hardware mount kit would be helpful, I would not have had to order the top mount screws separately if it was clear that they were included in the kit. Kenmore 80 Series Washer - Agitator Stopped Working

First I screamed at the ceiling, because I have a three year old and an infant, and the washing machine was dead. Then I went to youtube. It seemed like the "agitator dogs" were the issue.

In this spirit of any repair, I replaced them, and it was not the issue. I don't know what I expected.

Ceiling. YouTube. Pacing.

Then I figured it was this part - the motor coupling. I unplugged the machine and took out the drain tube. I leaned the machine back and propped it up with an empty detergent bottle, because those were abundant. Ratchet off a few bolts and the motor comes out. The coupling was indeed broken. The new one slips right in - I tapped it a few times with a mallet for good measure / vengeance. Ratcheted the bolts back on and tipped it back up.

Pros: Washer works now.
Cons: Everest-esque laundry pile to address.

But hey, it worked! I am no handyman and it wasn't too bad at all. Half hour tops. Read more...

Broken front glass

Very easy. Take the two top screws out and the two bottom holders off. The bottom holders hold the glass up in place. Grab the handle and pull glass out. To install put handles screws back on the glass and slide in place. Black Cam was bren on lower door hinge

This was a very simple job. Remove the top Hinge bracket, a total of 4 screws, lifted the door off the bottom hinge, removed the bottom hinge set up, 2 screws, replaced it, and attached the new bottom black door cam, lifted the door back onto the bottom hinge and aligned the top hinge, and reinserted the screws, and Ta Da, The door works like a new refrigerator door. 15 to 30 min tops.
