After calling other parts supply companies with not much help, I found a helpful representative at Parts Select. My unit is very old & not many parts are available, so I asked the rep if she thought just buying a remote control would solve the issue since it was obvious that the whole panel was not broken or unusable. She was not sure but said she would allow me to return it if it didn't. She sent the remote control out that day, I had it in 2 days.
