When you open the dryer door during a drying cycle to see if the clothes are dry the tumbler doesn't stop and the interior light doesn't come on. The only way to stop it is turn the timer cycle off. I am just thinking that it must be to switch that activates when you open the door. Does this sound about right or is there something else that i need to consider?Bob long

Hi Bobby,
Thank you for your question. If the dryer is not shutting off when you open the door, you will need to check the door switch, the timer and the internal bias thermostat. You will need to test the parts with a multimeter. Here is a link to one of our videos on YouTube that you may reference on how to use one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWC44fHn0As. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The door pops open. I close the door, it takes about 6 seconds for it to pop open. Do i need to replace the door switch, the latch system or check out the hinges? ( i was removing shinguard from between the light lens and the paddle and was practically laying on the door.)
For model number MEDB765FW0
Hello Valerie, thank you for inquiring. You will most likely want to replace the Door Catch part PS11741434 for your model. You may also want to consider the Door Switch part PS11741701, but it is less likely the cause. We hope this helps.

Was told my dryer won't start because of a belt sensor malfunction. The repair for this is $500. Does this make sense? Never heard of a belt sensor...high cost is due to location and labor involved...per technician who looked at it. Not sure how often this is an issue....does not appear in common issues for dryers not starting.

Hello Jim, thank you for your question. We have researched the model you have provided, and we would suggest the belt switch, part number PS11728120. This is a repair you can do yourself. First unplug the dryer. Remove the top of the dryer with a 1/4 in nut driver. Take out the screws and slide the top back and up. Using a 1/4 in nut driver take out the screws that hold in the control panel. Disconnect the wires by pushing in the tabs. Take pictures so you know where they go. Lift up on the control panel to disengage the tabs. Open the door, take out the lint screen and remove the screws. Prop the front of the dryer up with a block of wood and remove the screws on the bottom that hold the front panel on. Take out the block of wood and remove the screws holding the top of the front panel on. Disconnect the wiring harness by pressing on the tabs. Remove the front panel being careful not to pull the wires. Remove the screws on the mounting bracket. Use pliers to squeeze the retaining clip on the bottom to remove it. Take out the screws on the top brace and remove it. Remove the four screws that hold the front bulkhead. Disconnect the moisture sensor plug by squeezing the locking tabs and pulling it apart. At the bottom of the front blockhead there is one more screw to remove. Remove the retaining bar. Pull up on the bulkhead to disengage it from the hooks on the sides, lift up on the drum and remove the bulkhead. With both hands, push up the idler arm and free the belt from the pulleys. First the other pulley then the motor pulley. Let go of the other arm, spread the sides a little bit, and then lift up the drum by the belt and remove it using a 3/8 socket wrench. Remove the screw that holds the other arm to the base and take the other arm off. Using a small flat disc driver lift the tab up, pull the plug out and then the same thing at the bottom. To remove that switch press the two tabs, and use the flat screwdriver to open the tab and pull up on the switch. Push it in and lift it up out of the bracket. Take the two wires off the motor switch using the screwdriver to pry it off and then take the second one out. Install the new switch starting with replacing the terminals. Place the switch into the cut out and slightly angle it. Then the bottom portion goes over the bracket. Push it down to lock. Now you can place the idler pulley back on and screw it into place. Install the spring onto the pulley and connect the motor plug back in. Plug the wires back in, grab the drum by the belt and lift it up. Install it into the dryer by placing the bottom edge of the drum over the rollers. Make sure it is in when you turn the drum. Install the belt with two hands. Grab the belt and make a loop, insert it underneath of the idler pulley. Push up the other arm and install the belt on the motor pulley. Turn the drum one full turn slowly make sure that the belt is properly installed. Install the front bulkhead. Slide the shield under the drum and then both support rollers go under the drum. Lift up and push it with your foot. Hang the bulkhead on the hooks and secure with screws. Connect the moisture sensor plug, and install the brace at the bottom. Install the top brace by placing the hooks into the cut out at the top and push it down on both sides. Secure the front brace with four quarter screws, the shorter ones go on top, and the longer ones go on the sides. Install the bracket with the control board. Install the front panel. Insert that door switch harness with a disconnect plug into the opening at the bottom and pull it through. Replace the control panel, Replace the lint filter, and plug in the wires. We hope this helps.
