Keep searches simple. Use keywords, e.g. "leaking", "pump", "broken" or "fit".
Water leak from Bottom of Float Assembly
Remove the Palnut Screw from bottom of Float assembly using pliers, Remove Pivot pin from Actuator lever w/ screw driver. Replace the Float , install new palnut Screw and re-install pivot pin on actuator lever.
I did not move the dishwasher out. It is a fairly tight space underneath, but the water inlet valve is located toward the front, so it wasn't too bad. The steps were:
1) unplug the power and turn off the water to the dishwasher. 2) remove the 2 wire connectors. 3) use the nutdriver to remove the 2 screws that hold the valve to the side of the dishwasher. 4) use a wrench (5/8") to remove the nut where the water goes into the valve. This takes some patience since you can't turn the wrench very far in the tight space. 5) remove the water outlet hose by using pliers to squeeze together the clamp and move it up the hose. Then twist the valve to free the hose and remove it from the valve. The nibs on the clamp are small and take a little time to get them squeezed together. If the hose has been on there a long time, you will have to twist the valve a few times to free it up. 6) now you will have to remove the sleeve that the nut was screwed onto. I had to take the valve to my vise to hold it. Then it wasn't too hard to remove. 7) use teflon tape before you reassemble. Just go in the reverse order. 8) hope there isn't a leak. Mine didn't.
The new water inlet valve seems to have fixed the problem!
the soap dispenser door broke off, I lost the pins and the spring.
The repair is fairly simple except that the diagram on the web site has an error - it reverses the positions of the long hinge pin and the short pin. I kept trying to do it as the diagram showed and of course it didn't work. Then I followed my instincts! The only other difficult part was figuring out which way to insert the spring but there are only a few options so trial and error was the simplest way.
The latch on our dishwasher broke, meaning we could not close the door or start the dishwasher.
We have a nine year old Maytag dishwasher. The handle latch is plastic and over time with the many repeated uses it cracked and broke. I went to the local appliance repair shop and found the part in their data base but it would take ten days to get and cost $22. My wife and I thought it might be time to get a new dishwasher but after checking out prices at $500 or more, I decided to search on line and repair it myself. I found the part easily and quickly on Partselect.com and it was actually half the price of another internet dealer. The photographs helped me confirm I was buying the right part. It cost $6 plus shipping and I was amazed that it arrived in two days to California. It was easy to install, simply by removing the interior panel and slipping the new piece into place in the handle. Since there are no nuts or anything else to remove on these racks, bending them into place is the only obvious way to go to fit them onto the existing racks. Taking out the old movable racks is the easy part - just take a pair of pliers and bend back the 'O' part of the movable rack where it goes over the pin on the big rack. To put on the replacement racks, I found that I had to bow the racks in the middle to make them fit. Simply pressuring them into place didn't have enough give. With a helper to hold the big rack steady, I could use 2 hand to bow and align the movable racks and snap them into place. You have to be careful not to bow to much or you could permanently bend the new parts. I broke one weld between the short pieces that go perpendicular to the long wires on the new rack by putting too much pressure on the long wires.
Neither the Soap or Wax dispensors worked for years and there was water leaking from the front of the machine.
Actual i missed diagnosed the leak and ordered a very expensive door gasket. The leak was coming from shrinage of the wax resevoire o rig and the tab seal for the soap dispensor. I missed the trees the forest got in the way. The leak was dripping alond the front panel well away from the main door seal.
I cleans a the plastic surfaces and noticed a lip around the opening for the reservoire and used 150 sandpaper to remove it. Replaced the O ring, tab seal and bothe selonoids and cleaned everything. Put it back together. Works find lasts along time
We ordered the replacement part for our Maytag model and when it came we saw that it was different than the original part. The original part had 8 wheels with a higher left hand side. The replacement part had only 6 wheels and no higher side. The replacement part would not pull in and out evenly and was a bit too narrower. We called Parts Select and told them our problem and they are going to refund us in full and take back the part they sent. Alas we will have to buy a new dishwasher. We would use Part Select in the future for replacement parts. Alice Cambridge, MA
First I had to unhook the electric, water line and drain hose. Then slide out the dishwasher. Took several days to find the drain hose - local stores only carried a 6 ft hose and I needed a 7 ft. Once I found it online, purchased it and recieved it I put it all back together and all is good.
threw out the broken and put in a fantastically improved new one. very easy (would have done it sooner if I'd known it was that simple to find it online and order it) thanks
Removed four screws on bottom plate. Located repair site on outside of cabinet. Had to hook spring on bottom rear plate by brail. Then attached linkage to spring and ran stiff wire through linkage to raise it above arm. Called a man with stronger but larger hands had him stretch the spring while I guided linkage over arm and into the slot using the wire. Removed stiff wire with needle nose pliers and reassembled front plate.
Sooooooooo, I ordered a new kick plate, it arrived promptly, tried installing it and it was being difficult. Removed plate above that and lined up new plate(kick plate) tried putting plate above it on and as when we installed the machine that upper plate was difficult. Removed upper plate to fcheck problem of installation and guess what? Stuck in the inside of the upper plate was the lower plate complete with sound insulation. Happy ending :-)
I replaced the door latch grommet just as everyone else has described on this site. It was pretty easy. I was amazed that such a little piece of rubber can let so much water get by. The inlet valve was not too bad either. Take the two bolts out that hold the bracket to the dishwasher. Remove the rubber hose on the back side and take loose the two electrical connections. My water line was long enough to pull it out in front of the dishwasher. Then I took the water line loose and removed the fitting. Installed the new one in reverse order of what I just described. These items took care of the bulk of the leaking problem. But I am in the process of ordering a new door seal which I hope resolves the rest of the issue. Also make sure you check the upper and lower control arms to make sure the spray holes are free of debris. This dishwasher was full of pieces of clear plastic that caused the spray arms to spray indirectly and towards the cracks of the doors.
removed inner door panel. tested ythe Wax motor that operates the soap dispenser latch. It tested OK so I removed dispenser assembly. replaced the worn plastic parts and reinstalled the inner door panel.
I used a torx driver to remove the seven screws holding the inside door panel in place. Flipping it over exposed the dispenser mechanism. There were two hex nut screws holding the whole assembly in place and two wires attached to the wax motor. As an afterthought I had ordered the sealing grommet for the latch, and as it turned out, the main problem with the sticking latch was that the grommet had worn out and allowed the hard soapy water to leak into the slider assembly and build up a hard crusty residue that had helped to ware out the old wax motor. After completely disassembling all of the parts, I scrubbed the residue out of the housing, replaced the slider, latch, spring, and grommet. Next I snapped the new wax motor into place and connected the two wires. The whole thing went back in place and the two hex screws went back to hold it all together. Finally, the seven torx screws went back to put the door back together. The whole repair went without a hitch.
