Wax Motor for Detergent Cup Actuation Specifications
This is a dishwasher wax motor actuator that opens the dispenser cover to dispense dishwashing detergent and rinse aid during the wash cycle in your dishwasher. This is an authentic OEM part from the genuine manufacturer. It is a little over 2 inches long, and mostly red in colour. Disconnect power from your appliance because electrical wires will be exposed during repair. The wax motor is held in place by two tabs for easy release. Once you have gained access to the actuator, simply separate the two tabs and replace the part. This part is sold separately.

Worked like a charm!
This is the second time that I have had to replace this part in my 30+ year old dishwasher. It is easy to replace, and a darn sight better than buying a new dishwasher.

Part Repair Video Cleaned and Now Working
The part was received on time. I watched the video explaining how to replace the part. I took out the old non-working part and cleaned it thoroughly. After putting it back, I no longer have any issue. I decided to keep the ordered part since I suspect that it will eventually need to be replaced.

very easy to replace this part after watching the "how to install video". Unfortunately, this turned out to not be the issue with our dishwasher. Moving on the next possible fix.

Wax Motors - A Piece of Cake!
Thanks to PartSelect for initially helping to diagnose the problem with our dishwasher. I'd surely never heard of a "Wax Motor" before this experience. Once the problem was diagnosed, with some degree of certainty I'll note, ordering the part was a snap. Then, to top it all off, the short installation video offered a quick dose of confidence. I spent more time retrieving the tools from the shop to get ready for the job than was needed to do the deed. Wax Motors - A Piece of Cake!

I’m a DIY’er
I needed a part for my dishwasher. I didn’t even know the name of it. I described to the lady I was talking to, what it did & what it looked like. She said oh, that’s a “wax motor”. I ordered one, they kept me informed on when order was filled, when it was shipped. Very friendly & knowledgeable people to work with. I will not hesitate a minute ordering from them if & when I need other parts

Detergent door wouldn't open
I used a voltmeter to see if 120 volts was present at the right time in the cycle; it was, so the actuator was the likely culprit. I ordered one on a Monday afternoon about 2:30, and it appeared on my doorstep Tuesday, shortly after noon! It took less than 15 minutes to replace the actuator - removing the 7 Phillips-head screws, lifting

Detergent cup wouldn't open/Leak along bottom of door
Replace wax timer for detergent cup. Replaced foam insulation at bottom of the door.
Replaced wax motor. Since the latch grommet seal was nearby I replaced that also. That seal can cause significant door leaks and I had replaced it 5 years ago. It is easier to take the entire assembly off of the door and clean it. Be careful not to break the plastic linkages. To test the repair, you must let the dishwasher go through the

Soap dispenser does not open
After checking out the mechanism, I realized that the wax motor which operates the dispenser was no longer working. I conatacted Part select and on the second day, on a Saturday, Fedex delivered the little wax motor. I simply separated the front panel with the inside panel with 7 screws and a 1/4 inch nut driver. Door would not open to release detergent.
I removed the inside panel and discovered the actuator was caked with detergent and was not working. I replaced the cover and ordered a new motor. The new actuator arrived about a week later and I installed it in about two minutes. No more problems.

The detergent cup would not open
I ordered the Wax Motor for the Detergent Cup. The install was simple. Unscrew about 7 or so torx screws and the lid opens up. Do not pull it off as it is attached to another device with wires. With the door laying down (fully open) there is enough room to pull the plastic door. The wax motor comes out when you bend two plastic built

Simple as that!

Soap Dispenser did NOT automatically open during wash cycle
My dishwasher has always done a fanastic job of cleaning, even dried on food without rinsing. Now it began leaving stains in the cups and the door to the machine was staining too. Dishes not getting clean, loud grinding noise during drain cycle, would not fill after first fill cycle and would not sanitize.
Since I did not orig. order a fill valve I bought one locally(at twice your price) and after installing it the dishwasher worked. I then continued to install the pump motor housing and the wax motor for the soap dispenser. The dishwasher now works great, is quiet, the dishes are clean and sanitized.
