Was not cooling
Removed the back panel and swapped out the old board with the new. That was the easy part. Located the service manual under the frige and then had to program the new board. This was the hard part. If you did not press the buttons in the right order it would not work. I read the directions about 3 times before I was able to get this correct. If you pushed the wrong button you would have to start all over. I also had to replace the fan motor.
Ordered new drawer -- fast and easy to find the correct part on this site. I also felt that the price was very reasonable. Except for one thing, it would have been simple to slide the new drawer in. The original drawer has a white plastic "face" that is removable. "Removable" is a relative term. It took my wife and I over 20 mins to very carefully remove the face without breaking. One person could not do it --- you need to hold the drawer firmly while another pries the face off carefully. Once off, it was able to be pushed on to the new drawer -- be firm.
I ordered a new crisper drawer from PartSelect over the internet one morning at approximately 10:00am, and the product was delivered, non-express delivery, the next day at about 4:pm. The front coverplate of the old crisper came off easily, and snapped into place on the new drawer easily. The entire repair/replacement took less than 5 minutes. First turned off the water at the valve. Next I undid the 5 screws holding the plate that holds the pump. Next disconnected the power connectors, then the water lines. Next undid the screw holding the pump, removed pump. Next, mounted the new pump to the plate, this was tricky because it has to fit kind of upside down, so you have to wrangle it into the proper position then align the screw hole. Next, secured it to the plate with the screw, re-connected the water lines, then the power. Before mounting it back to the fridge, I tested to see if it worked, well, it didn't. My heart sank. I re-checked all connections, I redid the entire process, disconnected and re-connected and still did not work. I researched the problem online and someone posted maybe the water filter might be clogged or defective. So I removed the water filter and put the stop plug in, and it worked perfectly. I went and exchanged the filter and plugged it in and still had the same problem. I am now suspecting the filter receptacle is the fault, but we will do without that for the time being. But the pressure is much better so changing the pump was still necessary. All in all a very interesting repair. I learned a lot about how the system works and now I need to replace the damper, it is very noisy.
noticed the fridge and frezzer were not cold one day.i got on google and typed in the problem and found out the the relay goes bad rather often. was an easy fix. found the parts here on partselect and recieved in with in 2 days of ordering. pulled the old part out put new part in and plugged fridge in and was back up and running with in minutes..thank you partselect....
At age 65 I have never attempted to repair a refrigerator, until now. It took longer than needed because I did not read these articles carefully. Please note that when you open the door and the light blinks twice, waits a second and blinks again, the optics are working fine. I ordered an emitter and receiver when I didn't need to. I sent it back, the money was refunded, and ordered the ice maker. I replaced the old icemaker by removing three screws and slipping it out of its holder.
Here is how I found out I needed the new ice maker. I took the supply line apart that runs down the back of the refrigerator. I blew through it without any trouble. This told me that the line was not frozen within the refrigerator. I put the supply line back together, and jumped the solenoid that was connected to the supply line at the bottom right of the refrigerator. My model is the side by side, so it has two solenoids. The solenoid that runs the water to the dispenser in the door was always running, so I knew if there was a problem it would be with the ice maker solenoid. So, how did I jump the solenoid. Kids, don't try this at home. I disconnected the wiring harness to the solenoid by pulling it straight out. Then I took the female end of an extension chord and placed a twelve two electrical wire with the ends stripped into the positive and negative slots. I then jumped the solenoid. Water ran to the ice maker, but there still wasn't any ice made. Since the optics and the solenoid were working it seemed to me that the ice maker wasn't doing it's part. There are easier ways to check the solenoid in this forum, but this worked for me. I saved a lot of money and the parts got here quickly.
Crisper Frame had a broken track & trim had cracked
The new frame did not come with: any seals, the 36" metal support track that virtually holds the crisper drawers up and parallel or the sliders to change the drawers from vegetable to fruit setting. I figured it out but some instructions would have been helpful. There is no way the drawers would have been operational without that metal u-channel track. That and the sliders should have been part of the new frame. Figuring out the u-channel was not intuitive and it was difficult to get out of the old frame. The order placing and delivery was excellent.
Just replaced the switch, but unfortunately that was not the problem; nor was it the bulb....so I am back to square one. But Parts Select is a great place to order from. Thank you.
Broken lid popped out, new lid popped in. No tools required. 30 seconds to replace. Great price, part shipped within an hour of placing my order and arrived the next day, although I only paid for standard shipping. Excellent service - will definitely order again if the opportunity arises!
It actually took 1 day and 15 minutes to fix this problem.
I removed the drawers and shelves in the area around the pantry. I carefully took apart the sliders and plastic parts that comprise the endcap/temperature adjuster. Then I tried to replace the unbroken part into the assembly. At that point I realized that something was wrong and I had ordered the wrong part. So I cleaned and put the broken part back in the refrigerator to wait for the replacement.
PartSelect customer service person was terrific and had the correct part on the way to my home immediately. I don't know how, but it arrived the NEXT day!
THEN, it took me 15 minutes to unscrew the sliders, endcap and replace both. Thank you PartSelect.
A friend dropped a jar of relish on the plastic window and cracked it.
Easy repair. Unwrapped the new cover; pulled the old one off by releasing tabs. Inserted new piece. Took less than 15 minutes. Looks like new. The replacement part arrived quickly from Part Select.
Removed the top door hinge cover. Remover the four 12mm hex screws. Lifted empty door off bottem hinge support. Removed old door closure. Put some silicon lub on the new closure and installed. Reversed the removal steps.
But this did not fix the problem. Will have to remove the door and inspect the inside of the door's lower hinge assembly.
