The ice container in my unit has a 3 toothed coupler that is driven by a motor in the door. The couple appears to be attached to an agitater in the ice container compartment. My unit does not have the agitater and the 3 teeth on the coupler have sheered off. The other coupler, on the door and motor still has the teeth. Am I am correct in how I am interpreting the operation of the ice container? Thank you for your help. Jim
For model number MSS25C4MGZ06
Hi Jim, thank you for your question! From your description, it appears that the coupler in the ice container, which is supposed to connect to the agitator, has lost its teeth. The agitator's purpose is to break up any clumps or blocks of ice that may form, ensuring that the ice remains loose and can be easily dispensed. Since your unit does not have the agitator, it is likely that the coupler was still present to engage with it, but without the agitator, there is no need for those teeth. However, the sheared teeth on the coupler may be a cause for concern, as they might affect the overall operation of the ice maker. If the teeth on the coupler have sheared off, it is possible that it will not be able to effectively engage with any other components, leading to issues with ice production or dispensing. In this case, you may need to replace the coupler, part number PS11739763. We hope this sorts out your problem!
