This is a lid strike for various models of top-load washing machines. Lid strikes are designed to engage with the lid switch and communicate to the control board that the washer can start. If your washing machine is having issues starting, or if the lid strike for your washer is visibly damaged it will need to be replaced. Replacing this washing machine lid strike is simple and only requires a screwdriver. This lid strike is made almost entirely of durable white plastic and features two holes on either side for securing with screws. This lid strike is an OEM part and is not sold with any other parts or accessories, such as the necessary screws.

Lid Strike, is handy, great part, for what I use it for
I got this lid strike, so I can keep the lid open, on this new fangled, energy efficient washer, while it is running. Just so I can figure out how it works, and the amount of water it uses, during a wash cycle.
If it wasn't for PartSelect, and there great help in getting parts, and how to repair things, I'd still be scratching my head, with this new washer. Thanks guys

Not all have mounting screws,
The parts i ordered arrived quickly and worked as they should... i bought both the strike and the lid lock, no mounting screws on the lock, slide the entire unit to the right and remove, the new one goes in the same way. It may be a tight fit and difficult to slide, but it will.

Prompt delivery, easy repair
This part looks and fits exactly like the original. Fortunately, I had the screws from the original. The screws do not come with it.

wanting to see this new energy efficient washer work, with the lid open
There are a lot of complaints, with these new energy efficient washers, no matter the brand, on the amount of water that is being used, and not properly washing your cloths, while in the wash cycle. I got this new MayTag washer, and wanted to see it work, for myself, so I can try to correct the problem. But in order to see it work, a

To do so, there is a part connected to the lid, called a "STRIKE", that when the lid is down, it activates the electronics, making the washer run. So, I purchased this strike, to insert it in the washer, so I can observe the washer running, while the lid is open. Very easy, no tools required, just stick it in the slot, where the strike, on the lid goes, when the lid is closed.

The Washer acted like the lid would not latch and stopped it from cycling.
My fault completely! I shut a valve off to a spicket that I have in my garage due to a Nebraska winter. The problem turned out to be that my washer was receiving its cold water from the line that I shut off. So it was an expensive lesson to learn after replacing the switch harness and the latch. Water was turned off Ding Dong!

My washer won’t lock or go past wash cycle? Do you think it is this part?
Hi Micah,
Thank you for your question. If your strike is broken then it may be that this is the part that is causing your issue. However if your strike is fine, it is likely your door lock that is the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Same issue that has been asked but it is only intermittent: Wash cycle starts and then stops. The light is still on "wash" but the door is unlocked and can be opened. The water then slowly drains out. It did it once a couple of weeks ago and then today. Does that narrow down what it could be? Thanks for your help!

If the washer is missing the lid switch striker will this cause the washer not to work?
For model number Wtw5000dw1
Hi Jeremy, thank you for reaching out. Based on our research, the lid strike attaches to the washer lid and activates the lid switch when the lid closes. If the washer is missing the lid switch striker, the lid switch will not be activated, and the washer will not work. We hope this helps!

Will not start when I turn on but flashes at the dial and unable to self diagnose
For model number WFW9200SQ02
Hi Ernie, thank you for contacting us. We would suggest making sure the door is closing properly and the water is draining after the completion of cycle. Try resetting the unit by pressing the Pause/Cancel button for 3 seconds or by unplugging and re-plugging after a minute. If the issue remains, we would recommend checking the door latch, part number PS11745083. We hope this information helps!
My washing machine is not completing the wash cycle. It fills does the first wash but does not rinse. It throws out the water but does not refill for a rinse. Does it need a lid switch.
For model number RTW4516FW1
Hi Stacy, thank you for your question. It could be a number of parts. You should take a look at your physical parts just to make sure they are all in working order. Those parts would be your belt, drive pulley, and your drive block. If those parts are fine then I would suggest looking at your lick lock. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
My lid was forced open and the lid latch broke and just keeps clicking. What part do I order
For model number MVWC565FW2
Hello Pat, thank you for contacting us. We would recommend the lid lock assembly, part number PS12704713, as it prevents the washer lid from opening during the wash cycle and spin cycle. Also, the issue can be related to a faulty lid strike, part number PS11726338. Customer service is available 7 days a week if you need help placing an order. Glad to be of assistance!
My washer will not start all of a sudden. What can I do?
For model number WTW50000W1
Hi Denise, thank you for contacting us. We have researched the model and would recommend checking the door lock assembly, part number PS12704713, and the door strike, part number PS11726338. Both these parts help keep the door closed and do not allow the washer to operate when the door is not properly engaged. If these parts are functioning fine, the issue might be with the main control board. part number PS12114296. We hope this helps!
