Tub made banging noise when stopping from spin cycle
I notice a strange noise when ever the tub would shut down from a spin cycle. When I would load clothes it seemed that the basket had to much lateral movement. I looked between the top of the frame & basket & found 2 of the dampening straps had broken. Ordered 4 of them to replace all the straps.
Replacement was easy. I popped the front cover of the machine off. Remove 2 screws which held the top down which gave easy access to the straps. The straps are held in place by 2 screws so it was a simple process of removing the screws, removing the straps from their anchors & reinstalling the screws with the new straps. Job done. Reinstall the top & front of the machine & put the wife back to work.
First I removed the front panel using the screw driver. I removed the old belt which was in the bottom of the washer. I placed the new belt on the motor and adjusted the pullies. I replaced the front panel. The washer spins much better now than it had for the past year.
water wouldn't stop pouring into the machine, would not spin water out
unplug machine and turn off water at the valve. the pressure switch is located behind the water level control knob. remove the knobs from the panel, then remove the panel on the top back of the machine and remove the wires from the pressure switch. unplug switch. attach wires to new switch and plug into place. replace panel and replace all the knobs.turn on the water valve and plug into outlet.
Use paint scraper to release spring tabs holding front cover on.
Removed 2 screws holding lid down, and lifted up but did not remove top cover and control panel.
R/R 2 hex screws holding strap in place. If you are lucky and the broken strap is up front this is a super fast repair. Those of you with a rear strap will want to disconnect the wiring harness to the lid switch and likely remove the top panel (+ <5 mins).
First I took off the old coupling (one screw). Put the new coupling on, lined up and snapped the new agitator onto the new coupling. Repair took les than 5 minutes. The longest part of the whole process was lining up the agitator to the coupling.
Popped off the front panel and removed two screws that help top down. Then pulled the top of the washer up and leaned back out of way. Then each strap had a screw on each end and a clip that holds straps just remove the old and replace with new and put back together.
First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. put the new part in and that was it.
used a socket to unscrew the clip. pulled out the old hose, slid the new hose into the clip and screwed the clip back on. all fixes should be this easy.
Removed the bolt holding the agitator coupler on, replaced it and the bolt then slid the agitator on the coupler and the fabric softener dispenser on top of that.... so easy!!
the parts you sent were same as G.E. parts and fit with very little labor on my part Just follow the directions parts snap right in place washer is good as new thanks for speedy delivery. L. Neal Seymour In.
Several teeth on knob that turns timer had broken off.
First I unplugged washing machine. Then I removed the four screws on top of panel above panel, this made it easier to see the clip that hold the knob onto the timer shaft. Then I pushed clip off and removed knob. New knob came with a new clip in which all to do is push the knob onto the shaft until it clicks into place. Align panel back in bracket and put screws back in.
R&R Leaking/Damaged Hose and replaced it with the new one. One thing to be aware of is that after removing screws from the discharge hose upon removing the damaged one there was some water that did not expel from the unit so there was about a cup of water that came out. After removing the leaking hose you will need to remove the retaining plastic piece so that it can be placed on the replacement hose. Or if you ordered one put it on the hose so that it can retain the end of the hose in the washer. The anti-siphon clip is located about half way up the back of the washer it simply clips in place.
Remove agitator. Remove coupling. Reinstall new coupling. Reinstall agitator. My only problem was the 7 day delay in getting the part. I expected 2-day delivery.
Unplug machine, verified the hot water line to the washer was clear. Used screwdriver to remove top panel from washer. Removed faulty (rusted) temperature switch from seating. Then removed each of the wires from the old switch with needlenose pliers and placed them on the proper area of the new switch. Placed the switch back on the panel and screwed the cover back on. Then plugged the unit back in an tested the hot, cold and warm settings. Easy fix.
