This part is a replacement fabric softener dispenser for your washer. If your washer will not dispense fabric softener or detergent, or will not agitate, you may need to replace the dispenser. When it is working, the dispenser releases fabric softener during the wash cycle. You can find the dispenser screwed in to the top of the agitator. To replace the dispenser simply unscrew it, and replace it with a new one. This is an OEM part, and is sold individually.

The perfect replacement part(s).
The original fabric softener part became detached and then got hung up with the agitator which then popped off the drive. Went to the manufacturer’s site, but the pieces were back ordered. Parts Select had just what I needed and the instructional video on installation was very helpful! Shipping was fast. The parts are high quality and were a perfect fit. The machine is up and running. Thank you!

Washer would not drain / Agitator noisey
Disconnect electrical cord from outlet . Removed Front panel of cabinet , removed water from tub with my shop vac , disconnected hoses and electrical connections to pump , removed the two 3/8 bolts that secure pump to bottom of cabinet and removed the pump . Replacement of pump was exactly everything in reverse only hoses went on first. A
... Read moregitator only required a small tug which exposed the 7/16 bolt that secures the agitator coupling . A simple remove and replace operation paying attention to the ribs which align to the channels inside the agitator . A small push locks it into place . Finish with replacement of front panel of cabinet.
Remove cap from agitator (or old f/s dispensor ,if that was the problem) by simply lifting. Place new dispensor on the agitator, engage into the grooves on the agitator and push down til it stops. You are done! Leave it in place even if you're not using fabric softener on a particular washload.

Fin Broke off the Agitator
My wife washed a washable mop head and somehow it managed to break one of the fins off the agitator. I ordered a new agitator, fabric softener dispenser, agitator coupling, and bolt. I figured since I had to replace the agitator I would replace everything. This was super simple and easy. I watched a few videos on getting the agitator off
... Read more, some people said you may need to run some rope under it to get it off. Luckily mine popped right off. I grabbed both sides and gave it a good solid jerk straight up and it came right off. I used a 3/8 drive socket wrench and a 7/16 socket to remove the bolt from the agitator coupling. I installed the new coupling with a new bolt, lined up the agitator and snapped it right on. Popped in the new fabric softener dispenser and that was it. I may have spent a total of 10 minutes counting unpacking the new parts and carting the old ones out to the trash can replacing this. If you can operate a socket wrench or a new smart phone this is really a piece of cake.
The agitator broke off the agitator coupling when I attempted to wash my comforter.
I used a wrench to remove the coupling bolt. I then put the new coupling on and tighten the bolt. I then inserted the agitator over the grooves already molded on the coupling and popped in place. I then inserted the fabric softener on top of the agitator. Done! It took me around 20 minutes to complete the task. Doing the job myself saved

Fabric softener broken/agitator had one clip broken, too
Was easy to remove the broken parts because they were loose already due to the broken finger in the agitator. It was good that I ordered the coupling kit because the bolt showed corrosion already. With the new parts I was able to see how they all clipped on together so I set myself to unbolted the coupling, install the new coupling, tight

washer not agitating
After discovering the agitator floating in the basket and being torn apart from the spin cycle, I finally narrowed the problem down to the coupling having stripped. Removing the old coupling from the agitator itself took a pretty hefty yank and a large pliers, but after that this went pretty easily.
The bolt that holds the coup
... Read moreling onto the spline, as it turns out, is too short. The new part corrects this design flaw and prevents the bolt from working its way out over time. I took the liberty of applying some loctite to the threads before sliding the new coupling on--this needed a wood block and hammer to fully seat-several years worth of grime on the spindle makes for a snug fit-then installed the new bolt. Agitator snaps on top, then the cap that had been shredded when it floated around snapped in.
Hardest part was getting the failed coupling out of the agitator--design of the unit is not easy to find and thus determine which parts to pull on. Other than that, 15 minutes and this one is done.

DOES THIS FABRIC SOFTENER DISPENSER WORK WITH MY MODEL?
For model number GTW220ACK1WW
Hello Victor, thank you for your question. We cannot confirm that it will fit. We consulted the manual, on page 13 it states: NOTE: For models GTW490 and GTW500 only. If liquid fabric softener is desired, wait until the Rinse cycle status light is lit and the final rinse fill is complete before adding the recommended amount of liquid fabric softener directly to the rinse bath. When adding liquid fabric softener, pour into deeper areas of rinse water while avoiding direct contact with fabric. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair.
