The refrigerator was too warm. The drawers where vegetables and fruits are kept were being frozen. The vents blowing cool air into bins were iced up.
Took the drawers out of fridge and unscrewed the support rails for drawers and unscrewed inside back wall of fridge. Removed cover on blower fan ~ unplugged fan. This took 45 mins. Left refrigerator unplugged and let thaw out. Replaced with new fan 5 days later. Plugged in new fan. Then Plugged in refrigerator to make sure it would work. After 15 minutes, unplugged fridge and put rails and drawers back. Total time 45 minutes. Plugged refrigerator back in and let run 24 hours. It took 5 days to get part due to snow storm delaying delivery. It works perfectly. Our GE will be 10 years old in August.
Removed the bad inlet valve and installed the replacement. Very easily done. The replacement part made the repair so simple and saved me a huge amount over calling a repair man. It did not take any special knowledge.
It was super easy! The glass came packaged and safe. Once I unwrapped it, I slid it in the firdge and it just popped into place. So super easy. And now we know for next time when taking it out to clean, (the reason it shattered in the first place) you should let the glass get to room tempurature before cleaning it with water or it will shatter! OOPS!
Crisper Pan Glass accidentally dropped and crashed!!!
Search online and came across PARTSELECT website!!! this is amazing when I opened the website and see a labeled drawing, so I know what part number to order, it arrived on time and when I install it fits very well, one lesson I've learned is whenever you removed this glass in the chiller box you have to reinstall the glass properly by inserting one of the side to the insert slide of the chiller so it will not move! I'M VERY HAPPY!!!! THANKS!!!
Received replacement part. There is a cover over the ice box latch. Pried it off with a screwdriver head. Took the broken latch off replaced new latch to cover and replaced on the door.
I used pliers to pull lightly on the head of the switch, while I inserted a small flat head screw driver into the base of switch and gently worked around the edges to free it from the panel.
We broke the glass shelf above the vegetable bins, when we took it out to clean it.
I went on line, found PartSelect, located the diagram for our model, selected the part and ordered it. The part arrived in about 5 days, well packaged. We removed it from the packaging, and installed the new shelf. Extremely easy process. The exploded diagram on the web site allowed me to make sure I was ordering the right part.
Literally turned off the water to the refrigerator, disconnected the lines from the back and took one screw loose from the inside of the unit. Slid out old filter connection and slid in the new one and did reverse process.
The old switch was hard to remove. Thinking that I may have to loosen the wires I used a socket wrench to remove a clamp. This was unnecessary. In the end the switch did come out using a large size screwdriver. The problem was that the expanding plastic tongue is not visible from the ouside so you have to try to feel your way around. If i had ordered the replacement before and not afterwards I would have seen this before hand.
After replacing the light bulb and still no light I manually pushed the light switch button. Intermittently the light would come on then go out. I removed the power plug from the power source then replaced the light switch. I plugged the refrigerator back in and now I open the door the light comes on and stays on until the door is closed.
I replaced the three sensors, 2 in the freezer 1 in the refrigerator. This was rated as the most common problem. Did not fix the problem. I then checked the ohms on the new sensors then the old sensors they were all within .5 of each other. So I got smart and went down the list of causes on their list. I emailed partselect and asked what the parts should read. They replied with that information and it turned out to be the voltage converter on the compressor. I ordered the part on friday payed for overnight delivery and it arrived tuesday. This as you can imagine makes me angry. But the part was easy to install and my refrigerator started working right away. I would advise anyone with this problem to start at the top of the problem list use a multi meter check everything on the list and only replace part or parts that don't come up to standards. This will save time and money and hopefully fix the problem the first time as you are not switching out parts and hoping that it solves the problem.
