Installation was a little challenging. It was shorter than the original
The video install guide was very helpful. I originally missed the screw in the back. The video cleared up how to get the shroud out so it was possible to get the element in. But the part I received was a little shorter than the original. That made it a little difficult to get in. I had to stretch it and skp one holder. But it seams to work just fine.

Heater coil for older Maytag electric dryer
I checked with various local parts places and none of them had this part available, due to the age of the Maytag dryer. They could order it for me, but you know that goes.... Same wait, an upcharge to get it for me. Sorry, I can punch the keyboard as easily as they can. So, I checked with PartSelect and they had the 208V part, but the 240V part had been discontinued by the manufacturer. They indicated that this part was compatible with my model, so I went ahead and ordered it. The part arrived a week later to San Francisco. Installing it was quite easy since I already had the dryer disassembled to test the various sensors. Once installed, the dryer heated up perfectly! Success. Now, let's hope this is a lasting repair.

thought it was the heating element
I had a hard time with placing a tiny screw in the back of the unit to hold on to the cylinder for the heating element after struggling for a while I finally had to get a magnetic tool to hold the screw in place to line it up

Heater element burned out
Unplug dryer. Remove front panel- 2 screws on L & R near bottom. Remove wires (2) from heating element unit. Remove screws -approx 4- that secure heating unit to the dryer. Heating unit is a 6" sheet metal cylinder apprx 15" long that is held together by 4 screws. Remove screws and carefully unfold the cylinder into 2 pieces. You now have

access to the heating element wire. Take a picture of or carefully draw a picture of the layout for future use. (I used my cellphone camera). Remove heater element wire being extremely careful not to break the very brittle ceramic insulators. Re-install the new wire in reverse fashion, using your picture as a guide. Be careful not to stretch the element, but carefully proportion the wire between the insulators equally. Be of utmost caution in preventing the wire from touching sheet metal cylinder anywhere when complete. It should rest completely on the insulators. Reconnect the ends of the wire to the insulated terminals. Reinstall the cylinder in reverse order. Note: be sure to clean out as much lint as possible in the dryer while you have it apart & clean out the dryer vent. Low airflow may have caused the heater element to burn out in the first place! I used our electric Toro leafblower to clean (blow) out the dryer vent & it did a great job.

Dryer would not heat up
I found a broken heating element ( No conductivity with ohm meter) It was fairly easy to thread a new one through. But I tightened the ceramic terminal just a little too much and it cracked. So be careful at that point.
