This is a dual-action agitator for a washer. It is an OEM replacement part that is sourced from the manufacturer. The agitator tosses your clothes to clean them efficiently. This plastic dual-action agitator is white in color. It is approximately 18 inches tall with a base diameter of about 12 1/4 inches. No tools are required for this repair. Your agitator has eight tabs that fasten on the drive block of your washer, which is driven by the transmission. This part does not include the agitator coupling kit, which is frequently purchased at the same time as the agitator.

My agitator turn clockwise without stop when I check it manually, I dont know if it should stop half of the way and turn conterclock wise another half turn and stop. It is normal or it is a signal that it needs to plastic dogs changed. May be my model dont need plastic dogs or if it working properlly. Thanks
For model number GTAN 4250 D
Hi Carlos,
Thank you for your question. The agitator should turn 3/4 of a revolution clockwise and then 3/4 counterclockwise. The upper portion of the agitator is driven by directional cogs or "dogs" that are made of hard plastic and can wear out from hard use. If the upper portion of your agitator will turn in either direction or makes a grating sound during the wash cycle, then the directional cogs may need to be replaced. Visually inspect the cogs for discoloration, wear, or damage. You should also look to see if any cogs are missing. If your cogs have any of the symptoms described above, you will need a set of replacement directional cogs. If you have any questions, please let us know. We look forward to hearing from you!

My agitator actually only needs the plastic dogs that make the upper portion work. Couldn't seem to find them in parts list. Are these still available or is the agitator sold as one unit?

Purchased new agitator 9 months ago, not used during winter because at cottage - the fins keep breaking - why? Thanks
For model number HSWP1000M4WWW
Hi Beverly, thank you for your question. Based on our research, plastics are highly susceptible to breaking when they become too cold. The agitator fins are made of a thin plastic material, and may not have the strength to bear too cold weather. The compatible agitator for your model is part number PS1482519. If you require assistance to place an order, please contact customer service!

I’m trying to figure out if our agitator is functioning properly. The base is definitely swishing back and forth and moving the clothes around as it should. I’m not sure what the top half of the agitator is supposed to do. It spins freely in both directions with no resistance. Is it working as intended?
For model number WDRR2500K4WW
Hello Hen, thank you for reaching out. The top half of the agitator moves with the lower half; it is not supposed to move freely. If it is not moving in sync with the lower agitator half, it might be damaged. In that case, you will have to replace the entire agitator assembly, part number PS1482519, as the upper half does not come separately. The attached video can help you inspect your agitator. We hope this information is useful!

Sorry, we couldn't find any existing installation instruction that matched.
One of eight clips broke off of the agitator assy allowing the assembly to come lose on heavy loads.
I replaced the coupling by only having to remove one bolt with a socket wrench. Once replaced I installed the new assy over the coupling making sure ro align the splines then pushing down until the assy snapped into place. Easy.
The metal shaft of the agitator stripped the plastic coupling inside so I decided to replace the entire agitator assembly.
I installed the coupler and tightened the bolt with an adjustable wrench. Then I aligned the agitator and snapped it onto the coupler. Then I snapped the fabric softener dispenser onto the agitator. All of this took less than 3 minutes and that includes putting the wrench back into the tool box.
I pulled the agitator off of the coupler and out of the machine. I moved the coupler in circles by hand to check to see if it was working properly. It wasn't. I got an adjustable wrench and removerd the bolt that held the coupler on. I pulled the coupler out of the wash basin and examined it. I saw that it was stripped out and I new I had to get a new one. I first called my local sears store to see if I could get the parts. First I spent about 20 minutes tied up in their phone system and then when I finally got to speak to an actual person they didn't have a clue. Then somehow I got transferred to the Sears 1-800- phone number and spent about 20 minutes talking with a parts person. Meanwhile I checked out partsselect.com while I was speaking with the Sears rep. It turns out that Sears wanted about $25 more for the parts than parts select and I was only placing a $50 order. When I brought this to the attention of the sales rep. they replied that they were shipping only GE repair parts. Big Deal. The parts that I got from parts select were the exact parts that I took out of the washer. Ordering online was very easy and convenient and I wasn't overcharged for shipping. The repair took less than 3 minutes and everything works like new. Thank you parts select.
Simply put hands, one under each side of the agitaror and pulled up. The part snapped off very easily. I then placed the new part in the tub and pressed down. Extremely easy, should have done it sooner!

Agitator was floating up off of base during washing
Removed agitator. Removed small bolt holding mounting device. Removed mounting device. Replaced everything in reverse order with new parts. No problems.
First, I removed the liquid softner dispenser cup from the agitator. Next I gripped the bottom of the agitator and pulled straight up. This was the most difficult part of the repair. Next, I removed the couplier bolt with the appropriate size socket wrench. And then removed the couplier from the transmission shaft. This exposed the shaft. Upon receipt of parts from Part Select, I proceed to install in the reverse order. I slide the new couplier back onto the transmission shaft. and bolted down with new bolt using the original socket wrench. Next I slide on the new agitator making sure the "tongue and groves" matched. Then I placed the liquid softner cup back onto the new agitator. And with great joy my washer is working once more. Thank you Parts Select.
We couldnt figure out why our clothes werent getting clean until I took the door magnet off and placed it on the sensor so we could watch the washing machine while it was operating with the lid open. The agitator was not moving at all. I put a rope through the fins of the agitator on 2 sides, and using a board for leverage, it popped right off. I used a socket to remove the coupler screw and put on the new parts. Washer works great now. A very easy repair.
After reading how others have done this and how easy it was, I decided to give it a try. And, sure enough, it was really easy. However, one concern I had was on lifting the old agitator off from the axle using both hands. I didn't want to have the agitator come crashing into my face as I pulled up. So I put a pillow on top of the agitator.

Easy repair, but product was poor quality
I barely had it 3 weeks and one of the fins has already broken off even with light loads. Very disappointed in the quality

Easy repair for someone strong, Works prefectly.
The part came in great condition; it arrived very fast. I'm close to 80 years old, so I needed somone a lot stonger than myself to install it. That person was able to install it for me and I did not have to pay for a handy person to come out. The You Tube videos really helped. It has been working great with no problems for about 6 weeks. I know some people write their reviews too quickly. I wanted to give it some time. Works perfectly; like a charm. So glad we found this website; a lot cheaper to fix it this way than to buy a new washer. Thanks Part Select!
