This is a water inlet valve for models of Whirlpool washing machines. The water inlet valve is designed to regulate and control the water entering the appliance depending on the cycle, using an electrical device called a solenoid. This water inlet valve features two inlets, one for hot water and one for cold, as well as a wire harness to power and control the electric solenoid of each. If your washer is having issues with filling, the inlet valve is likely bad or potentially worn out and in need of replacement. Replacing this valve will require a screwdriver, wrench, and pliers. This water inlet valve is an OEM part from Whirlpool and is sold individually.

I had never used PartSelect and am not familiar with laundry machine parts at all! Thankfully it was easy to find a replacement part using the sku. The part was reasonably priced and came in a timely manner. It was easy to install and works as intended. Better than buying a whole new washer!

Washer will not fill with hot water or warm water. Cold is fine. Is this the part I need
For model number NTW4516FW2
Hi Bill,
Thank you for your question. If your washer is not filling with hot or warm water, the water inlet valve is just one part to check. You will also need to check the lid switch, the inlet hoses and screens, the selector switch or water temperature switch, the water level switch and the electronic control board. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Not getting any cold water and washer doesn’t want to cycle could this be the reason no cold water for rinse cycle
For model number Rtw4516fw2
Hi Greg, thank you for reaching out. First, you may need to make sure that the water pressure is adequate and the inlet hoses are not kinked. You may also need to make sure that the lid locks properly and does not open during operation. If that is not causing the issue, then you may need to check the water inlet valve, part number PS12349269, as it is most likely faulty and may need to be replaced. We hope this is helpful!

About a week ago i ask about water is over flowing the drop pan you said to check the inlet water value and it is 500ohm what to check now? Both fans are running when they are supposed to. The food is cold and the food in the freezer is frozen. My refrigerator is a side by side. It started about a month ago.
For model number ts22afxkq05
Hello Mike, thank you for writing. The Water Inlet Valve tested okay, so you will want to check the Water Tube (part number PS11730901) for cracks and damage that may be causing it to leak. Also check the other water lines to the dispenser. I hope this helps!

Will not stop filling
For model number NTW4516FW3
Hello Tara, Thank you for the question. If the water is filling even when the washer is not in use, we suggest replacing the Water Inlet Valve as the ports could be "stuck" open allowing water through. If the Tub is just filling while in use but over fills, we suggest checking the pressure hose to make sure it is secure with no soap build up preventing the water from reaching the Pressure Switch. If the Hose is clear, you may need to replace the Water Level/Pressure Switch. We hope this helps!
The cold water only won't stop trickling into the washer. If I turn the cold water off, it stops. I don't have an issue with the hot water. It also has not been finishing filling a load, I do only use cold water. Is the only possible part the water inlet valve assembly?? Or could it be something else? We do have well water, could it be build up of iron?
For model number NTW4516FW3
Hello Jennifer, thank you for contacting us. The most probable cause of the issue is a faulty water inlet valve, part number PS12349269. As you are using well water, we would also recommend checking the washer fill-hose kit, part number PS1803069, and making sure it is not clogged. Customer service is available 7 days a week if you require assistance placing an order. Thanks again for reaching out!
The washer is not filling with water but motor is running is this the part I need? I checked the hoses they are fine
For model number NTW4516FW3
Hi Beth, thank you for your inquiry. According to our research, this problem could be caused by a faulty lid or water level switch. We recommend checking the water inlet valve, part number PS12349269. If this is fine, we suggest checking the lid lock assembly, part number PS12704713. If the issue remains, you may need to replace the electronic control board, part number PS12348137. We hope this is helpful!
