My previous question on how to replace the burner igniter (item 154) has been answered. But, in my case the electrical lead that connects to the igniter dropped underneath the assembly and it is impossible to retrieve the lead through the small holes from the glass surface. Please advise how to access the dropped igniter electrical lead under the glass top of the cooktop.
For model number PGS968SEM1SS
Hi Tony, Thank you for the question. Unfortunately the glass top will need to be removed.Turn the power off to the cook top first, then turn off the gas supply. Remove all burner grates, burner caps and burner assembly's.Take note and lay them aside accordingly so you can put them back where they were originally.Below each burner are burner screws that need to be removed and set with each burner.Remove the center vent. There may be igniter clips that need to be released from igniters and set aside.Remove the control knobs. Remove all 4 of the plastic clips on the control shafts and set aside. Remove outer control panel. Remove the 4 screws that hold the inner panel intact. Set this aside. Take note or pictures and remove all ribbon cables and wire connections passing through the inner panel to the front control panel. Remove the control panel mount. Next you can remove the top glass screws on the side. Pull out the entire unit enough to access the back. Remove back and side outer trim screws and lay the trim aside. Remove all side glass top mounting screws and you now can lift the whole top off to find the lead. Take lots of pictures as you go and it will help with assembling. Good luck with the repair!

How to replace the burner igniter (item 154)
For model number PGS968SEM1SS
Hi Tony,Thank you for the question. To remove the igniter use a small torx or star head driver to remove the burner base that holds the igniter. Pull the base up and slide off the electrical wire from the old ignite and remove the old igniter. Installed the new igniter and remove the old gasket and installed the new gasket. Slide electrical wire onto new igniter and reinstall the base tot he cooktop. Good luck with the repair!

Is this $46 for a single igniter or a set of 4?
For model number PGP989SN1SS
Hi Rajiv,
Thank you for your question. The igniters are sold individually, so this would be a cost for one igniter. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Does the electrical wire to the igniter just pull off and push on? What is the purpose of the spring mechanism on the igniter?
For model number JGP970SEK2SS
Hi Mike, Thank you for the question. The wire is push on and the spring helps keep the igniter in place. Hope this helps!

I want to replace the burner igniter, part 154. Your previous instructions are to unscrew the burners and then you can get access to the igniter. To what are the burners attached? I do not want to start messing with the cooktop if i am going to have to take up the glass surface, so i don't want to unscrew something and have the underside attachment plate drop into the base pan. Thanks.
For model number JGP970TEK2WW
Hi Clyde,
Thank you for your question. The burners are are attached to the burner tubes and the maintop supports. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
