Oven quit lighting
I removed the old igniter, held in place with two screws, pulled the wiring out to get to the clip, and undid the clip. Clipped the new igniter to the wires, pushed back into the hole at the back of the oven, installed the igniter with the two screws, and fires just like new! I had a loose wire on the old igniter and hassled with that for years because I didn't realize how easy the fix was.
Well, this wasn't my first rodeo, this is the second ignitor I have replaced in my oven, first being the broiler. It is very simple, unscrew the old one, screw in the new one. The hardest part was cleaning up the mess I found UNDER THE OVEN!!!!
The oven would not light even though the glow plug lit.
Remove the shelves and floor of upper oven and remove the two screws holding the glow plug. Disconnect wiring harness and replace with new one. Screw new glow plug and replace floor and shelves. The oven worked like a charm again.
Slide stove out unplug remove cover on back bottom left 3 screws remove wires from old module and plug into new module could not remove old module I glued new to old replaced cover pluged back in slide stove back in and the burners lit
Came to this website to look for possible cause. The major fault for my problem was the igniter @ 61% of the time. So, I ordered this part @ about $55. Opened the range floor, removed two nut screws and old igniter, by unpluging. Plugged in new part reattached screws and tested before putting it back together. Worked fine, without snags. However I did pull up and remove oven door for complete access to oven.
Removed the 3 screws fastening the ign. bracket to pan housing & gas burner, pulled out the assy., removed the 2 wire nuts, removed the shield from old ign. ceramic, slipped in new ignitor ceramic, pushed the assy. back into pan opening, replaced the 3 screws & fired it up. Gas came on within 30 sec. of ignition. Put a pie in for 45min. & completed the cycle. Enjoyed the pie. Thanks for the help Parts Select.
I removed the various trays and racks to gain access to the oven igniter. I removed the one screw that held the wiring in place that goes into the body of the oven and pulled out the wires. I removed the wire nuts and safe ended the hot wires. I removed the two screws that held the igniter in place and replaced it with the new one. I reconnected the wiring with the wire nuts , pushed the wiring back into the body of the and stuffed new packing material into hole and reattached the plate on the back of the oven. Turned on the oven and it ignited immediately. A very easy job to complete. I would suggest to others to turn off the power. I knew what I was doing by working it "hot".
Removed the two screws that support the hot surface igniter. Removed the rear cover to disconnect the igniters wire harness and removed old igniter. Installed replacement igniter by fastening with the old screws and sending the plug harness through the ovens rear opening. Connected igniter into the harness and installed the rear cover.
I am a novice at this, so before I did anything I researched this site and made sure to read the installation directions that came with the part.
First I removed the oven racks, the bottom cover (one screw in front and two back latches by moving them towards me) and the fire cover underneath that. Next I disconnected the electrical plug in the back. Then I removed the defective part by unscrewing 2 back panel screws and 1 on the side of the igniter itself. Now, in connecting the new igniter I cut the connector off of the old one and wire nut connected it to the new one. I did check the connectors and cleaned them by simply plugging/ unplugging them a few times. Next, The trickiest thing about installing the new igniter was pushing the wires all the way to the back of the oven. I took care and time in this to insure that the connection was well insulated from the heat and then plugged the hole with the insulation material supplied. Next I recconected the fire cover and turned it on. Worked great! Put everything back together, plugged it in and Voila! Like new.
Replaced the ceramic glow ignitor by removeing the two screws holding it to the mounting bracket. Gas and electric were tturned off. Unplugged the ignitor from rear of oven. Installed new switch in the same way and if worked perfect. Part was ordered online for $48. I saved one hundred dollars by doing it myself. My outdoor grill was harder than this.
