Gas oven igniter for a GE Profile XL44
Once we knew which part was needed, we went on to your site and orded the part. It was delivered the next day! Partselect.com is bookmarked on every computer in our household, including mobiles. It's great to know there is such a fantastic resource for do-it-youselfers. It took 5 minutes to remove the old igniter and plug in the new. A screwdriver is the only tool required.
I specifically asked if $16 plus would be the sole expense for this item. I was told that it would be plus there would be no cost for return of the rubber feet. Several hours later I was emailed an invoice that the cost would be $26 plus for four rubber grill screw-like items, a vastly over-priced item. I called and learned through the email system that the item had not been shipped. I requested cancellation at 5AM Saturday. Friday night order led to Saturday morning cancellation -- and Monday morning delivery despite my specific request to cancel. I am not satisfied. It seems like I have been hustled.
First I removed the broiler from the bottom of the oven, then pulled the oven way from the wall to unplug it. I then removed the two screws that hold the igniter element in place. Ironically, the plug GE manufactures is reversed so i had to strip the plug and go end and reverse the wires to attach them to the oven. I used ceramic wire attachments as plastic would surely have melted. Replaced the screws, replaced the broilers, plugged it in, replaced against the wall and it fired up.
The bottom strip had become rusty and looking badly
I pulled the oven door off the hinges and took the bolts out of the bottom of the over that were holding the strip on. I then pulled the strip off and replaced it with the new on. I replaced the bolts and then replaced the door on the hinges.
I followed the "Test Procedures" on your site { VOM to test the Temperature Sensor and observed the intensity of the Igniter } and found both items were not at specs. Although your video did not depict my model oven exactly, it showed me enough details on how to get to and change out the parts. IE: The connector plug for the Flat Style Oven Igniter had to be accessed through the Warning Draw and not the Oven as shown in the video. A minor issue. I found your test and safety procedures, how to video's and ease of ordering the required parts fantastic. Most importantly the parts arrived in one day and a half. A very satisfying experience, Thank you
Gas range igniter was making a clicking sound every 3 to 5 minutes, as if it was trying to ignite one of the burners.
Unplug the range from its wall socket to avoid electric shock. The various range parts that support a pot or frypan are easily lifted off their perches, exposing the small white igniter. The only moderately difficult aspect is wiggling the igniter out of its retainer. The electric wire leading into it then can be pulled out and fed into the new igniter with a push. Replace igniter in its retainer, then replace the range parts you removed to expose the igniter and plug the range back into the wall socket. Piece of cake.
Lift out old one and replace with new one. Also ordered an additional oven rack. Their website is super easy to navigate and their availability of parts it's outstanding!!
