I searched for the 18x5x5 insulation.,ordered it from Part Select. Waited. Company sent wrong part. Called, they gave me a refund, reordered, promised 2 day free shipping. Waited more than a week, paid for 2 day shipping. Received same, wrong part. Still don't have repair done. Looking elsewhere for part.
Repair was awful without instructions. Instructions were requested twice with no response. Attempted without instruction and broke the sleeve. Reordered but not through Partselect
Tranfered wheels from old rack to replacement rack. Silverware caddy was a bit too big for the replacement. I gently bent the prongs on the rack a little and its fits perfect.
The 1/4 inch impeller bolt to shaft would not budge with a nut driver so I had to use a ratchet to loosen it. I could not hold the drain impeller with an adjustable wrench so I had to use a vice-grip. This still did not loosen it so I used an oscillating power saw to cut away at the bottom of the drain impeller being careful to only cut so deep, I didn't want to cut into the motor shaft. Once I had cut some grooves into the drain impeller, I could break it into pieces and remove it. Upon reassembly I tightened the 1/4 inch bolt with the ratchet.
Did not use the new parts. After removing the spray arm, found a screw out of place. Put the seal ring back in place and the screw back in the hole. Machine works like new.
Bottom tray of dishwasher started to rust and pins were falling.
First I had to buy a new tray. I tried to remove the wheels from the old tray but they wouldn't come off without breaking. I ordered new wheels and axels and they went on fine with the aid of a C-clamp. Then I tried to remove the old bumpers but they broke when I tried to remove them. So, I ordered two new bumpers. When I did I saw that another user had posted a note saying that the new bumpers slipped on well if heated in hot water first. So, I heated them in hot water and they slipped on easily and safely.
Turn off water and power to the dishwasher. Remove kickboard cover to gain access below the door (2 screws). Water inlet valve was removed using a 5/16 nut driver (1 screw). It is located on the front left side of the dishwasher as you face the appliance. My dishwasher did not need to be pulled out from the cabinet, so using an adjustable wrench removed the supply line. Used a pair of pliers to remove spring clamp on the other line. I then removed the two wires from the clips on the side of the valve. Installation is the reverse, the wires can be reversed with no consequence.
Dirty dishes discovered water tube old and cracked
Loved how easy it was to deal with you! Part was clearly pictured and came immediately! Very satisfying to fix it so easily. Wondered why we waited so long!
Our diskwasher is over 20 years old. The manufacture did not even list the model anymore. Googled - Kitchenaid parts old. Found your site and order the part on Sat. night. It arrived on Wed. Installed as follows that night. After reading other reviews on how the job went and seeing that people had problems getting the tube to slide on the outlets I decided to take the rack completely apart so as to have unrestricted access to the connections. Would be easier to work the tube on to them.
First I removed the top rack by releasing the two retainers on the upper rack side rails which hold it up. Then I turned it with bottom up and released all of the plastic clips that held the bottom half of the rack in place. If a clip breaks you can use a nylon cable tie to replace it. Then I took out the screw that holds the metal water bar in place and removed it. Then I took out the screw that holds the plastic part that the water bar was mounted on off. Then with the outlet where the tube was to be mounted not connected to anything it was easy to slide the tube on it. I then was able to slide the tube on to the bracket at the back of the rack. Had to use a screw driver to help get the tube over the round outlet. Then worked it on to where it should be. Reassembled the top rack and put it back on the side rails and washed a load. It worked just like it did when it was new. Saved a service call $75.00 and only took about 30 minutes working at a slow pace. Love it when everything works like it should.
I removed the rubber water tube before ordering the part. After receiving the part it took less than 2 minutes to replace the part. Now the dishes are clean!!
