The hard part I thought, was to find the part I needed. Not so with Part Select. It took less than a minute to find and order. The new part showed up in a few days. I noticed the new part was a little differant in a good way. The socket porition was a little deeper making it a little better. The microwave works great now.
After reading reviews that there was no power what so ever and a fuse replacement will solve the problem, I tried it. Replacing the fuse is very easy (and I am not handy at all). All you have to do is remove the microwave cover from the top by removing two screws, slide the cover to the left and pulling the cover off. Then remove the grill in front of you, by removing one or two screws. The fuse is in front of you, use pliers and be firm but gentle. Replacing the fuse is easy but it did not solve my problem.
Remove vent above door by pulling out top and squeezing the top and bottom of vent together to unhook the bottom. Lift door off of hinge pins, may need to pry a little to clear the top of the pins. Carefully pry off black inner plastic liner and remove door handle screws. Check the new outer door frame to make sure that all the excess plastic has been removed - mine had a plug of plastic that interfered with the frame fit. Put the door handle back on before positioning the glass. Put the black plastic liner back on and make sure it is flush. Gently tap the edges of the outer door frame to fully seat the glass in the plastic frame. Put the door back on the hinge pins and re-install the vent.
Use a phillips screw driver and removed two screws. Removed the old Vent Grile and put the new Grille in place. Reinserted the screws tightened with the phillips screw driver. Took less that five menutes. Samuel C Jackson
Microwave would only heat food items to a warm condition
Removed microwave cover using screwdriver and anti tamper bit available at local hardware store. Megnetron had broken magnet making discovery of deffective part easy. Removed wire connector and three screws attaching magnetron to case, removed magnetron and installed new item in reverse order. Installed cover and made popcorn for operational check of microwave. Happy days..........
had a crack in the left side and since i am selling the house, I needed it to look pristine.
I took off a couple of screws, slipped off the damaged part and then very easiy snapped the new part on. Everything fit! I am not a mechanic, so I really appreciate it when the job goes smoothly.
PartSelect had helpful repair instructions on-line which made the repair easier and faster. Unfortunately, there were other problems with the oven that immediately blew the new fuse I had just installed. It was then determined that additional repair would most likely cost almost as much as a new microwave.
First unplugged the microwave, took top grill off, took control panel off, took wires off and used color coded tape to make sure they went back in right places, took fuse out and replaced it and put every thing back and it all worked fine and to top it off my wife did it all. So it was pretty easy.
