Burner Knobs would crack in the middle
The original knobs were poorly made and kept braking. After the third set, which were very expensive for some plastic knobs, I read this web page for help. Based on what I learned and what I read, I glued the metal sleeve in the knob shaft with some super glue. I then wrapped the shaft with copper wire and spread some industrial glue over the copper wrapping, which looked like a spring around the shaft. I have had no problems in the last month. I hope it keeps up.
I can't believe how easy this was to fix. 1. Unplug the stove. 2. remove the screws that hold the stove top in place. 3. pull the top up, unplug the electrical wires and unscrew the ground wire 4. remove the stove top and flip it over. 4. unscrew braces holding the burners in place. 5. with pliers, remove the wire connections between stove top and old burners 6. replace with new burners. 7. reattach everything. And you're done! Go brag to the neighbors about what you just did.
First I shut off the power to the stove top and the electrical breaker box. I found that the stove top was stuck to the counter top surface; a butter knife was used to break the old seal by inserting it under the lip of the stove top and slowly broke the seal by going all the way around the lip. Then I lifted the cook top out of the counter. I had to remove the entire sheet metal bottom enclosure for easier access to the switch compartment. I removed the 2 screws holding the old switch in place. I installed the new switch. Using the wiring diagram, included in the packaging of the switch, I labeled each connector with the proper colored wire, physically traced each wire to be certain it matched the wiring diagram. I removed the wires from the old switch, using a pair of needle nose pliers to prevent any damage to the wires, then connected each wire to the identified terminals on the new switch. Re-assembled the enclosure and removed the old foam seal. I replaced the old foam with the new foam. I then placed the cook top back into the counter cutout, turned on the breaker and turned on the burner. Wa-lah, every thing worked. Great job on the instructions. It made the job easy and straight forward. The only thing I found a little difficult was trying to remove the 2 screws holding the switch in place by only removing the small access to the switch compartment. It was much easier to remove the whole bottom enclosure. Just a few more screws, which took about 5 minutes.
Repair video was very helpful. I have removed the screws on both sides of the appliance under the surface plate, in the front. The Owen door has to be open for that. Then I have pulled the surface plate for a little space to disconnect the two connectors. Turned the surface plate over on the kitchen table, removed the 6 screws. Turned the burners assembly over and removed the small burner by disengaging the two clips. I have removed the 2 clops from the burned burner and assembled it to the new burner. I have placed the burner and engaged the 2 clips with a crownose players. I have removed one electrical connecter at a time and connected to the new burner. I have turned over the assembly over the glass plate and assembled the back cover with 6 screws. Put the surface plate on the range and connected the 2 connectors, pushed back, lined it up with the 2 screw holes in front of the range on bot sides and put the 2 screws in and Finished.
unscrew 3 screws under the control panel and pull that away from the glass top making sure the wires don't come apart from the connectors. care fully slide the glass forward and replace the burner which was the easy part. DO NOT try to test without making sure that none of the burner are touching the metal surface!!!!!!!! it will trip your breaker. But now we have a range with 4 burner after a year THANKS
large element burned out on smooth top surface cooktop
I lived with a burned out element in my smooth top cooktop for a couple of years. When the second large element burned out, with a house full of weekend guest coming, I decided I had better do something. Checked out PartSelect, found the replacements. I am a 73 year old grandma. My grandson and I replaced the elements within 20 minutes and we were cooking for 16 people. Woo Hoo! Removed eight screws lifted off the glass top, removed two electrical clips, removed the old element and reversed the process X 2. Great company to deal with, fast shipping and I love the tutorials. The range top came off with two screws under the front portion of the glass top (by the oven door). I unplugged the connection plugs at the rear off the range top, unscrewed the rear screws holding the heating unit in place and plugged in new element and reassembled range unit. You need to removed the two phillip head screws at the rear of the range top in order to remove the bar holding the heating element. Once you do this it is very easy to finish the job.
It's easier with two people. 1 - Turn the breaker for the range to OFF 2 - Verify power is off by testing the burners and lights 3 - Remove front two screws above oven door jamb 4 - Lift the top and prop it up with the spoon, or have your helper hold it. 5 - Loosen the screw at the rear of the bracket that holds the elements against the glass top (front and rear are held by the same retainer) 6 - Remove the bad element by sliding it sideways from the retainer. Do not disconnect things yet. 7 - The burner has numbers around the edge. Move brackets from old element to new one, matching the numbers. Then move wiring to new element. New burner may have a single connector where old one had 2 and a jumper. If so, ignore jumper. 8 - Slide new element under bracket and reinstall the screw. 9 - Lower the range top and re-install the screws. 10 - Turn on power and test.

Shut off 220 volt power to range. Removed two screws for cooktop element access. Used needle-nose pliers to remove power (2) and control (2) lugs and wires. Remove defective cooking element module, replaced. Reverse steps for new unit.
I unplugged the stove and removed two screws on bottom of stove top (above oven door) one screw holding burner bracket in place. Took one wire off at a time and hooked to new burner, tightened all screws back down.
