Dryer's timer knob broke on the inside
When I got the knob in the mail, I opened up the package, made sure the knob was identical to the broken one and pressed the new knob into place. I needed no tools to put the new knob on. It was easier than I thought.
Dry would not work, knobs were stripped and did not turn properly.
Yes, we should have done this a long time ago and put off replacing the starter knob and heat adjuster knob. By the time they no longer worked, we called in an expensive repairman. When we realized what the problem was, we thanked him, paid him lots of money and did what we should have all along - replaced the knobs throug partsselect.com instead of using the repairman for another $150.00.
We received the knobs within 3 days (paying for medium fast delivery was worth it) and simply pulled the old problem knobs off and put the other ones on. Simple, no brainer work.
Save yourself expensive repairs and replace those knobs when they start going. Also, when you test the machine, make sure you turn the setting to a time (stupid mistake that most of us do) to make sure that the knobs work properly.
Good luck. A terrific experience with Partselect.com. Would use again in the future and recommend to others.
Once I found your web page things went very smoothly and quickly. It was exactly what I wanted and it even came a day early. Obviously, no problem with the repair just put the knob in place.
I called the repair man for an evaluation. Upon examing the dryer, he termined that the dryer was broken from the inside. So, he advised me to order another timer knob.
Before I bought the new knobs, I put nail glue inside each knob to strengthen the knobs. It lasted for about 6 mos and I would have to do it again. Needless to say I got tired of the broken knobs, so I bought new ones.
i took the front of the dryer control panel off. then the switch is right there, the way its made all you have to do is unplug the wires and the switch is made to just turn it to the right and it comes right out. then do the same to put back in reverse. real easy with the partselect parts. they work will good. Thanks James
Timers are made to turn clockwise and break when turned counter clockwise
We are a retirement community and when we opened March '07 the company purchased GE washer and dryers to go in our common area laundry rooms for the residents to use. Because of their age, they will often turn the knob counter clockwise and not the right diirection which breaks the device which is not good. With in 3 days of installation they had broken 2 of the new knobs. But, the ordering was simple, the shipment was fast and the install was quick for the maintenance tech.
An easy fix. I was impressed with how fast I received the parts!1 Three days and that was during Christmas mailing season. I was very satified. Craig H. Tampa Florida
Actually, my 18 year old son opened package and placed knob on dryer. Absolutely no problems In fact, company shipped quickly and accurately' very impressed with how easy this repair was.
