Start knob on dryer broken
There really is not much to explain, the new knob was so simple to replace that my six year old could have done it. No tools were required and it took less than a minute to replace the new knob.
It took about 20 minutes, first I popped the top off using a flat screwdriver in my leatherman and removed the wires on the door switch then two screws holding the front on, and then I removed the drum which took a little longer because the belt tensioner was difficult to release because of limited space. Removed old bearing (ball and socket) and replaced with new one. I then reassembled in reverse order. Working great. . .
Squeaking was coming from the back of the drum, not the glides. The hardest part was trying to figure out how to pull the drum out. With a little extra tug, the back pin of the drum lifted out of the socket. That was the cause of the sqeak. Just cleaned it up and added some grease and good as new. I noticed the front glides were worn and replaced it.
First the old knob was broken just pulled it off. made sure the metal piece was clean of all debris or junk and slide the new know on turned it to make sure it was snug and was ready to go. to easy
I turned off the power, unscrewed the 4 screws from the top of the dryer. I then opened it and turned the switch that was in there counterclockwise exactly as utube video said to do. I then took off the two wires from the old switch. The rotary start switch fix right in where the old one was. I put the panel back together, put on the old knob and turned the power back on! It took less than 15 minutes from start to finish! If I can do it anyone can! Joanne Klinkhammer Cecil, Wisconsin
Dry would not work, knobs were stripped and did not turn properly.
Yes, we should have done this a long time ago and put off replacing the starter knob and heat adjuster knob. By the time they no longer worked, we called in an expensive repairman. When we realized what the problem was, we thanked him, paid him lots of money and did what we should have all along - replaced the knobs throug partsselect.com instead of using the repairman for another $150.00.
We received the knobs within 3 days (paying for medium fast delivery was worth it) and simply pulled the old problem knobs off and put the other ones on. Simple, no brainer work.
Save yourself expensive repairs and replace those knobs when they start going. Also, when you test the machine, make sure you turn the setting to a time (stupid mistake that most of us do) to make sure that the knobs work properly.
Good luck. A terrific experience with Partselect.com. Would use again in the future and recommend to others.
