washer shakes and was very noisey
researched the problem from the web-site.found the three most common things that would cause the problem.inspected the washer to see if there was evidence that one of the described parts had falled,and found that the tub wear pads were missing do to wear.simply replaced and it solved the problem. Thanks for the information.
I pulled the hose off and notice their was a part # and I went online and type the part # and showed the part and cost. I order it and receive it within 3days. when the part arrive I replace the hose in minutes. If I can do so can you its that easy.
I first took the 2 screws out and disconnected the wires, I got my parts ordered and when they came in I put it back together then plugged th wires back in. I really could not believe that I could do something of this nature but when I started it was easy. My boyfriend wanted to take the washer to a repair shop, but I said first I will take a look and see if it will be worth saving. Otherwise I will junk it. It cost me with shipping costs 41.00 I am very proud of my self. But I read other peoples experience on fixing the same problem that I had so I gave it a try. Tub not spinning or agitating, but could hear motor working.
Disconnected power, all hoses. Tilted washer backward to see underneath. (Placed sturdy 6" high object under back of washer to keep it from going flat on ground and possibly damaging hose connects). Looked for area where motor and transmission connect. Saw broken part (coupling). After trial and error, figured out how to remove pump and then motor, by removing strap type holding clips, and then broken part was accessible. Ordered part online and was easy to install and reassemble washer now that I knew how it came apart. If I had known the part name or number beforehand, I could have watched the replacement instruction video on this site, but I figured it out anyway, and I did it without removing the whole control switch panel and side panels/body of washer, like they do in the video. But..I guess they had to do that to give you a good view of all the parts and things they were removing underside. I recommend watching video for this part install,so you see what needs to be removed and how underneath, but then just tilting washer back to access underside, without all that control panel and sides removal.
Purchased and installed PS1485646 COUPLING, MOTOR (Direct Drive Coupling). We googled "Washing Machine making a grinding noise. Several people suggested coupling probably broken. We located some instructions online regarding dis-assembly, sure enough,the coupling was broken. We ordered the part from Partselect.com. It arrived in three days, replaced the broken coupler. Washing machine back in business for around $20. Hooray! Thanks, Partselect!
The Agitator in my washing machine wasn't spinning, and was loose.
After researching and learning from the university of YouTube, I ordered new agitator 'dogs' from PartSelect - the rubbery dogs which look like gummy bears, were worn out in my machine and needed to be replaced. These dogs secure the inner part of the agitator. After watching several videos on YouTube, I knew precisely what to do and what I needed. I researched and found PartSelect on-line and they were very helpful and sending me the dogs. It was a very simple fix, and my washing machine now is working like brand new. Thanks PartSelect for all your help and will reach out again for any future self-fix projects!!
Sprayed wd40 - limescale - boiling water , NOTHING WORKED after half an hour reapeted spraying and pulling the tub and shaking it back and forth - still nothing Finally I replaced the center nut loosely than putting a piece of wood on top of it and with me holding the tub slightly high - my wife than whacked it hard several times , I also was turning the tub every whack When it came out it was full of rust and grime - it would have never come out without what we did Replacing the the rubber washer was easy - machine works and no more leaking- thank you for your video which really helped to start the job

washer wouldn't spin with load, then not at all with rapid clicking sound
Clutch was noticibly worn compared to new part. Direct drive flange had broken, this part should be steel. found a you tube video that was simple to follow. no problems
Lid Switch Case was Broken and would not hold screws. Not draining or spinning.
I watched a youtube video made by the site on how to replace the lid switch assembly. It showed you exactly how to do this repair. Without watching the video, it would probably have stumped me. After watching the video a couple of times, it was really pretty easy to do. The timer on our washer also needed replacing. I followed the instructions by Joe from Covington, GA. That repair was really easy. Thanks, Joe, for the easy to follow, complete instructions.
Direct drive, no belt. Motor sounds like it's spinning but the agitator is not. Bought the coupling (that goes between the motor and the transmission) and replaced it in less than 15 minutes. Two screws and two clips to open the cover. Two clips to move the water pump out of the way. Two screws and two clips to take out the motor. Replace the coupling and reverse the steps.
the washing machine would pump the water out, but the agitator would not spin, and it was making noise.
The video that was shown about how to perform the repair was spot on. I wasn't sure exactly what part I needed. I took the advise from you stating that these symptoms I described usually meant that the part I ordered was the correct repair In 65% of the cases. I was delighted to see that when I followed the instruction video, and the motor was removed, there was my coupling, In several pieces. At that point I knew that I ordered the correct parts. Removed power plug from the wall outlet. Removed fabric softener cup and inner cap seal to access the 7/16" bolt. I loosened the bolt and removed the whole agitator. I then placed the agitator on the floor and pulled the two pieces apart. I cleaned both agitator parts in the sink and installed the agitator repair kit using the instructions included and put the two halves back together. I then installed the agitator into the washer and tightened the 7/16" bolt, replaced the inner cap with new seal and inserted the fabric softener cup. I Then ran a load to test the repair.
Remove softener dispencer, use flat tip screw driver to remove agitator cap, there is a slot, insert flat tip screw driver and pry up, once removed you will see the damaged dogs or cogs, use 3/8 drive ratchet with 10 or 12 inch extention and if memory serves me correct a 9/16 socket, loosen bolt and remove top agitator, there is a thrust washer between bottom and top agitator, it comes in the kit, use a little grease preferrably water resistant grease on top of washer, replace top agitator then the plastic device that the cog are inserted into and tighten bolt, put agitator cover back on with a gentle slap of the palm and reinstall softener dispencer, you are done and cloths will agitate properly again, fairly easy job and washer agitator works like new, great kit, would reccomend.
The washer did not spin fast enough during the rinse cycle to adequately dry the load of clothes
I repaired my Kenmore washing machine replacing the clutch, Motor coupling and cogs. All of the parts came quickly and with good instructions. Best of all there were links to youtube repair walkthroughs. With out these step by step instructions this project would have taken much longer. Now the washer is like new! WATCH THE YOUTUBE PAUSE DO THE STEP AND REPEAT
