This part is known as a pulsator cap or washplate cap, and is designed for your LG washer. It fits over the washplate mounting bolt and prevents clothes from getting caught on the washplate during a wash cycle. It is round in shape, and approximately 3 inches in diameter.

Washer pulsator was coming loose during wash cycle.
Since the old pulsator had actually come off during a wash cycle, I was able to place the new one on easily. Tightened the screw with a socket. Then placed the new cap on. Before placing the new pulsator on, I was able to clean all the mold and hard deposits off the mechanism under the pulsator. The hard deposits were also scrapped from the pulsator holding (where the screw goes) which may have caused the problem to begin with. Read more...

Washing machine was leaking from the bottom, immediately after starting
After removing the front and door (easy after watching video) the problem was obvious. The old Tub to Pump Hose had come disconnected. The hose clamps came off easily and the replacement was straightforward. A bit of fussing to get the clamps to slide into the right position, but easily accomplished after some persistence. The wash plate cap was broken and had to be replaced.
I used a small flat head screwdriver inserted into slots just under the cap and pried off the cap. The cap should come off very easy.
