How do you remove the top motor seal from the shaft? There looks like a plastic ring above seal but it will not come off.
For model number FDR252RBS1
Hi James,
Thank you for your question. To remove the seal from the shaft, first remove the tower by turning it counterclockwise from the spray arm. Then, remove the 3/8-inch nut that holds the arm to the diffuser. You will then need to remove the diffuser by removing the 4-5/16-inch bolts that holds the diffuser to the sump plate. Then remove the upper wash impeller by unthreading the T-25 Torx screw holding it in place. Then remove the macerator blade from shaft and then remove the pump housing cover. You will then need to remove pump slinger and the volute cover. To remove the volute cover you will need to unthread the 2 T-20 Torx screws holding it in place. Then you will need to remove the lower pump impeller. Then remove the carbon face half of pump seal. The motor shaft seal will come mounted on a sleeve. This protects the seal surfaces. This sleeve must be removed to install the new seal. Check seal faces to be sure they are both clean and free of any debris. Install ceramic half of seal into sump. Make sure it bottoms out in sump. Slide the top half of the seal onto motor shaft and make sure that it is fitted correctly and is tightly in place and everything matches correctly. The old plastic sleeve may be stuck on the motor shaft and you will need to pry it off. Be careful not to damage the housing or the shaft. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hello, My Frigidaire FDR252RBBO dishwasher leaks from the center (trickling down the motor) when operating, and doesn't drain properly at the end of the cycle. I found that replacing the motor seal and sleeve (PS421123) may fix these problems. On your website it says that I may also need a new lower drain impeller. How would I know if I need to replace the impeller, too, and how do these two parts work together?
Thanks, Peter
For model number FDR252RBBO
Hello Peter, thank you for your inquiry. We have researched your model and found that if it is not draining properly, then you may need to check its drain hose, part number PS9494138, if it is fine then the impeller, part number PS420969, is probably causing the dishwasher to not drain properly. Leakage from the center of the dishwasher can be fixed by replacing Motor Seal and Sleeve Kit, part number PS421123. We hope this helps! If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Thanks again for your great question.
