How do I remove the shield light cover in the refrigerator? Also, my unit produces ice, however, when i go to dispense it, it will fill the door container part but freezes up in the dispenser unit and clogs the unit. Water dispenser works properly. Btw love your site, i have already ordered replacement parts for the freezer thanks to your online information. I have never tried to fix an appliance before, but your tutorials and faq's make it easy.
For model number PSS26SGPASS
Hi Margaret, Thank you for the question. I am happy we are able to help you. We try to make it as easy as we can for our customer to repair their own appliances and save money! To remove the light shield you just need to squeeze the sides a bit and pull down, it should pop right out. For the ice dispenser, I suggest taking it apart to see if the flapper is bent or damaged. It can get stuck and not allow ice through. While in there you can make sure the crank and spring the helps the door open and close are all intact. If there is no physical damage you may need to replace the Dispenser Door Solenoid Assembly, Part Number: PS1483583. Here is a link to a video that will be helpful with taking the dispenser apart. Hope this helps!
