Plastic gear worn and belt stretched from usage
first disconnect the electric power cord. Disconnect the incoming water lines. Tip washer up or better yet flat on the floor where bottom is completely exposed. Remove bolts holding guard over belt and motor. remove bolts [2] holding clutch arm into plastic bearing, remove old belt will slide off pulley, remove bolt holding pulley to shaft, calls for a puller but I applied pulling pressure while working back and froth; no problem but could have been. chance clutch bearing and reverse the process to working order. I would recommend wearing cloth or vinyl gloves once the guards are removed for the pulley and old belt has a lubricant that is somewhat messy but cleans up easy.

Washer not spinning out completely.
1) Unplug washer
2) Remove water supply hoses
3) Remove drain hose
4) Tilt washer forward
5) Remove 4 bolts covering the motor assembly to access belt.
6) Remove old belt by turning it off the pullies.
7) The new belt needed to be stretched by attaching one end of the belt to one of the pullies using a zip tie. I did this by drilling a small hole in the larger pulley, large enough to allow the zip tie to pass through.
8) After tightening the zip tie to the belt, slowly turn the larger pulley to stretch the belt on to the smaller pulley.
9) Make sure belt is properly seated on both pullies.
10) Reinstall the cover.
11) Reattach drain hose and supply hoses.
12) Plug washer back in.

Won't spin, belt slipping.
Laid washer on the floor to expose the bottom. Cleaned up the residual water that leaked out on to my hardwood floor. Removed the three nuts that hold the belt cover on. Slipped off the two year old stretched, oil soaked serpentine belt. Cleaned the rugged plastic pulleys with alcohol. Put on new belt. Small serpintine pully first, then rotate pulley to install belt to large pulley. Easy fix but doomed to fail again soon. Seals are Junk on the transmission. They leak oil already. Washer is JUNK. Not my first rodeo with GE garbage. It needs a new transmission to truly fix the problem. When it fails again out to the curb it goes. 2 years old, just two in the house so usage was minimal. No more GE appliances for me.

My washing machine will not spin, thinking it needs a new belt?
For model number GTW330ASK0WW
PartSelect logo
Hi Jen, Thank you for your question. I would definitely suggest you check your belt to see if it has worn down. That is the most likely part that would be causing your issue. However you may have to look at your transmission parts as well to see if they are worn down or need to be replaced. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Is this belt supposed to be coated in grease?
For model number GTW460ASJ4WW

Hello Jim, Thanks for your question. You may wish to clean out the grease on the belt, as it should function without the grease on it. I hope this helps.

My washer makes a clicking noise once it starts wash the upper agitator is brand new but hardly moves
For model number GTW460ASJ4WW
PartSelect logo
Hi Lawrence, Thank you for your question. According to the GE website, "At the beginning of the cycle, the lid will lock, creating a clicking noise. The basket will then spin up and coast down several times to sense the load size. You will hear the click several times as the lock engages and disengages." Here is a link form their website that you may reference, https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=21894. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Clothes still wet after spin cycle.
For model number gtw460asj5ww
PartSelect logo
Hi Barb, thank you for your question. There are a couple of parts that you could check for being the issue. First you may want to check your belt. That part tends to wear down over time and needs replacing after a while. If that part is fine however you may want to look at your lid switch for being the issue. If that part thinks that the lid is still open it will not allow your appliance to go into a spin cycle. So the water will drain out without actually spinning. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

I ordered the belt that the website said to order and the belt seems too small is there a tensioner or anything to loosen or tighten the belt?
For model number GTW460ASJ6WW
PartSelect logo
Hello Tim, thank you for writing. To adjust the tension on the belt, press the motor into the washing machine and downward or toward the edge of the appliance. With the motor pressed firmly in place, tighten the mounting nut by turning the wrench clockwise. Keep a finger on the belt; when you can depress it only about 1/2 inch with your thumb, you have reached proper tension. We hope this helps.

I got a new belt to put on my washer but how do I get access to it to change it? There is no access panel. The back is spot welded so I can't open it up. Any ideas? Thank you.
For model number GTW330ASK0WW
PartSelect logo
Hello Bryan, thank you for your question. Before you begin, make sure to unplug the appliance, turn off the water, and disconnect the water hoses. Remove the screws at the back of the control panel. Slide the panel to the side to detach it from the main top. Detach the wires from the control board and set the control panel aside. Insert a putty knife under the main top to release the two spring clips securing the front panel. Pull the front panel forward and lift up to remove remove the two screws securing the main top. Slide the main top forward. Slightly lift up and use pliers to squeeze the lid switch wire retainer to release it from the frame. Now lift up the lid squeeze the tab to release the lid switch and pull it through the opening in the main top. You can now completely remove the top and set it aside. Remove the screws to release the rear panel, the control panel bracket, and trim. Use pliers to gently remove the air pressure tube from the pressure switch. You can now move the control panel bracket out of the way. Remove the screws securing the shock dampening straps and pull the straps from the tub cover. Release the tabs on the bottom of the tub cover and pull the cover off. Lift up the dispenser cover and rotate the dispenser cup counter clockwise to remove. Use a 7/16 inch socket to remove the agitator bolt, then lift off the agitator. Next pull off the drive block and washer. Use a one and eleven sixteenth inch tub nut wrench and Hammer to remove the tub nut by rotating the wrench clockwise you can now lift the inner tub off of the drive shaft and set it aside. Use a flathead screwdriver to help remove the split ring and lift off the washer. Note (or take a picture of) the position of the motor and mode shift or wires on the motor board then disconnect them. Remove screws to release the grounding wire. Use pliers to squeeze the ends of all four of the wire retainers to fully release the wires from the motor mounting bracket. Unwind the wires from the suspension rod, loosen the clamp securing the drain hose to the bottom of the tub, and pull the hose off again. Be prepared for water to spill. Remove the air pressure tube from the side of the tub and detach it from the twist retainer. Next lift up the outer tub and unsnap the four suspension rods from the base frame. You can use a hammer handle or broom handle to assist in detaching the lower support bushings. Now tilt the outer tub and motor assembly forward and remove it from the cabinet. We hope this helps.

Wash machine will not speed up fast enough to drain out the cloth orwhat ever your washing spin out slow
For model number htw200askoww

Hello Jimmy, thank you for your question. We would recommend checking the tension on the belt, and position on the pulley. If the belt and pulley are fine, the issue could be with the speed sensor or clutch. I hope this helps.
