Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This part is a power nut, and it is intended to be used in conjunction with trash compactors. The function of this nut is to fasten to the side of the ram where it is threaded. When the power screw rotates, it is fed through the power nut, which pulls the ram down to compress the trash. This part is just over an inch in diameter, and is just one inch thick. This part is white and made entirely of plastic. The reason for needing to replace this part is if your compactor ram gets stuck, or if it does not stop at the end of the compacting cycle.

took appliance out of cabinet, found the problem to be two nuts on the big screw bars that drive the compaction machine up and down. These things were wore out. a plastic bag got caught around the screw and the flange on the nut broke so it couldn,t raise one side so the door was jamed at an angle

Move the unit out of the cabinet, and take off the top cover.The two drive screws are easy to see. unscrew the two screws of one of the power nut covers and remove that cover. With pliers, unscrew the plastic power nut from that screw. Screw on the replacement power nut with the help of pliers and some heavy grease. install the bearin

Measure from the end of the screw to the top of the cover of the first screw, then adjust the second power nut up or down so the two power screw nut covers are the same distance down from the top of the it's power screw Lift up the piton assembly to close the gap, if any (I used a short piece of rope) , and install the screws on the second power bearing cap. After installation. recheck the distance from the top of the power screws to the power bearing caps is close to the same distance so the piston will be level.. This same procedure could be followed for other brands. Power of the appliance and verify functionality, if OK replace the top cover and push unit back into the cabinet..

Grinding sound when operating compactor
Removed drawer first, then removed compactor from under kitchen cabinet. Removed top cover. Discovered that a small wash cloth was wound around one of the drive screws. I needed the replacement plastic gears that were ruined when compactor did not shut off. Relatively easy job if I had noticed the location of the shut off lever, and would have needed the parts.

The compactor would only stop and reverse direction if you turned the switch off and on again
I slid the compactor out of the cabinet space it sits in and unplugged it. I removed the two screws that hold the control plate on and it then lifts up and off to reveal the screws that hold the top down. Then I removed the two screws that hold the top of the unit on and removed the top. I then put the switch plate back on and plugged the
... Read more unit back in and ran it so I could see it operate from above. It went all the way down compacting the drawer but kept running and did not reverse and come back up. I figured it was the directional switch and ordered that. The plastic power nuts that the unit rides up and down on looked worn so for $10 each I ordered a pair of them also. The parts arrived in 3 days. I decided to install the power nuts first. When I removed the metal casing that holds them I saw that wings on the plastic power nuts that hold them in place in the metal casing were all broken off. I installed the new power nuts then plugged it back in and ran it. It cycled perfectly. luckily I had not opened the directional switch and I was able to return it to Partselect for a refund. In total I had to remove and reinstall 4 very short screws and 4 small bolts. While I had it out and apart I also cleaned out quite a bit of old trash that had escaped to unseen parts of the compactor. It is 26 years old and working fine. I don't think they make them like they used to. Thank You Partselect for a great experience
Trash compactor was stuck, took apart to see the power nut stripped, ordered nuts and while putting the ram back in I didnt see the reversing switch lever and broke it off.Guess Ill order a new switch ($40)..moral of story...slow down and pay attention to the details..

Description of part number ps11744741 indicates this quantity of 2 wp777533 power nuts, is this correct. I do need 2.

Not a question, but your part number PS11744641 is also a direct replacement for the power nuts on the Frigidaire tcu 3h. I guess there are not many oems producing the power screws and nuts. It's also the same nut as Whirlpool part no 777533

Actually I see that part number PS11744641 is a bake element while part number WP777533 is the power nut that you are referring to. Some times manufacturers will make parts for other manufacturers but in your case Frigidaire does not offer a replacement for the nut that originally goes with your appliance. That part number is: 5308003543.

My compactor made a loud racket. I found the pinion and main drive gear were slipping and teeth were worn. I will order new ones from you, but I wonder if my power nuts ($$$) should also be replaced.. I suspect they are much easier to replace should they fail later.
