Lid Switch with Wire Harness Specifications

This lid switch with wire harnesses is used in washing machines. The pin on the lid switch pushes onto the lever of the switch to communicate to the machine that the washer lid is closed. If your washing machine is not running when the lid is closed, not spinning, draining, or agitating, replacing the lid switch could solve the problem. The tools needed for this repair are: putty knife, 1/4 inch nut driver, wire strippers and crimpers. Refer to the manual for further installation instructions. Remember to unplug your washer from the power source as a safety precaution.

Washer fills and agitates, goes through wash cycle, drains but will not spin. Hums for a while, then indicator light goes off. Humming continues. Already tried changing the control panel. Did not solve the issue. Could it a faulty lid switch? Thank you for you help.
For model number GTWN4950L0WS
Hi Louie, Thank you for the question. If the washer is not spinning replacing the lid switch could solve the problem. The switch acts as a safety mechanism to prevent the washer from spinning when the lid is open. If the switch is defective, the washer will think the lid is open and will not start the spin cycle. Hope this helps!

Power on, hit start, tub filled and then nothing. Still got power, tub full, lights on front panel but it won't spin.
For model number GTWP2250DOWW
Hi Marc, Thank you for your inquiry. Where your washer will not start, the most common part that will fix the issue is the lid switch. Some other parts you may also have to check are the electronic control board, the magnet assembly, and the drive belt. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Machine doesn't start when i press the start button. I replaced the lid magnet & still doesn't start. Please advise next move.
For model number GTWN4250D1WS
Hello Gerald, thank you for contacting us. It is possible that it could be the lid switch. The pin on the lid switch pushes onto the lever of the switch to communicate to the machine that the washer lid is closed. If your washing machine is not running when the lid is closed, not spinning, draining, or agitating, replacing the lid switch could solve the problem. Hope this helps!

Won't agitate or spin, but water is exhausted. I'm not sure a new switch would solve the problem, since the machine makes some sound when it is supposed to agitate or spin. Should i buy the assembly and give it a try, or do you think it might be something else? Thanks.
For model number WJSR4160G2WW
Hi Bob, Thank you for the great question. Normally if it was a switch you would not have sounds like it was trying to agitate. Checking the list of symptoms I suggest checking the belt, part number PS1482278. If you enter this part number into the search bar on our home page you will come up with a video on how to install the new belt, watching the video will show you how to get to the belt so you can check to see if it is broken or wore out and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Machine will fill with water and tub will spin but when it gets to the washing stage it stops and the machine just hums.
For model number GTWN4250D0WS
Hi Paula, Thank you for the question. If the machine is not go through each cycle I suggest replacing the Timer. The timer on this model is actually built into the Electronic Control Board,Part Number: PS8757105. If the lid switch was the issue the appliance woudl fill and agitate and go through the wash cycle but when it came time to spin out, the appliance would stop.Hope this helps!

When the washer is plugged in and you turn the dial, all the lights turn on but nothing happens when you push the start button.
For model number GTWN4950L1WS
Hi Nicole, Thank you for the question. This sounds like an issue with the start switch or the timer switch. Both are built into the control board, so the board will need to be replaced,PartSelect Number PS3507656. Hope this helps!

washing machine would not go through all cycles or agitate
After removing frt panel which prys off I checked for anything obvious like a loose belt. Then I jiggled the magnet switch located on the inside of the loading cover. I saw the machine start agitating the it stopped again when I stopped touching it. I ordered the new part and spliced it in with the wire crip tool. Now the machine is A ok.

Washer didn't wash/spin
Replaced lid switch with wire harness. Video available on this web page. The technician said bad motor. We counted the flashes, light on top of motor, was 7 times. Diagnoses are very important, save you money! Do it more times, be sure. Biggest problem is socket size for the screws, size 6,5mm or 1/4 inch. Do not call technician or throw away your washer!...

Washer stopped aggitating and spinning
Reviewed your website for problem symptoms for top loading washers not agitating and possible solutions. Purchased the lid switch wiring harness. All I needed was a painters 1" putty knife, wire cutters, Philips head screwdriver, (2) electrical connectors (crimping type), crimping tool, and electrical tape. Very easy installation and problem was solved. Recommendation, the wiring harness should come with electrical connectors (crimping type). The installation video on your website was a big plus in making this small project a success

Washer wouldn't spin the water out of the clothes.
I wasn't sure what the problem was. I Googled the most common problem for this washer and it pointed to the Lid Switch with Wire Harness. I ordered the part, watched the video provided, and installed it. Installation was just like the video said. Due to the lack of dexterity in my hands due to arthritis, it took about 25 minutes from start to finish. Washer works like new now.

Machine would not agitate or spin
Ordered lid switch from parts select via website. Two days later I received the part in the mail. Instead or re-wiring, I cut wire close to existing bad switch. Splice two wires and cap with wire nuts. Zip tie loose wire to tub housing.

Machine will do everything and stop at the last spin, will not spin at the end.
I researched what could be the problem in the internet and follow the instructions from a GE technician, I chose the problem from a list and followed the video the technician played on how to do it yourself. This time was the lid switch which is found visible under the lid opening usually right middle flush with the opening. When I got the new lid, only the switch gets bad so I cut the cable enough to replace the old one, pulled out and cut and connected the new one. If there is not enough cable use the spatula to push the clips on the front panel on the top both side about 5 inches from the corner and pull panel out front and now you can see the wires better and make the connection.

I followed the video from the website to install the lid switch. Worked like a charm. Great instructions. You do need to supply your own butt splice connectors .
