FEX831CS0 Frigidaire Washer Dryer Combo - Instructions

pulled out old catch with old pliers and popped new one, simple.

watched the video on website, printed instructions for feedback.

sucked out remaining water with shop vac. took off lower front panel, two screws. took off back panel, six screws. diconnected drain hose from pump,some addittional water drained out, sucked up with shop vac. disconnected tub drain from pump, more water, shop vac. unplugged two wires from back of pump, removed two screws holding pump, removed pump, put in new pump, reversed procedure. Done!

I first had a problem with the dryer not heating. When I looked at the heating coil I could see it was broken. With much work I replaced the heating coil. The real pain in the ass was reattaching the dryer drum back to the bearing on the back of the unit. It is very difficult to find the holes on the rotating bearing and line them up with the 3 holes in the drum to insert the screws. Hence my mistake, I evidently didn't tighten the screws tight enough as they would fall out after an hours use and destroy the new coil. I replaced the coil but still no heat. . . . When the coil shorted out it damaged other electronics. I replaced two parts of the electronic (thermal limiter and high limit thermostat). Still no heat. I have another almost identical unit so I pulled the control panel out of it and still no heat. There is one other electronic part I see that I am going to replace but at this point I would rather eat a can of worms then look at it. I would highly recommend to anyone performing this procedure to really crank the screws in the drum tight and use blue locktite.

Used a metal cooking spoon to pry open the lid, held it in place with a chain (mentioned in the tools required) and used needlenose pliers to remove the clamp on the old hose assmbly. Transferd that clamp to the new hose assembly and replace the (1) screw holding it in place. Closed the lid of the washer, and now it is like the problm had never existed. (Very easy fix, 1 of 10 on difficulty scale).

Taking the front of the dryer off was rather easy. A two screws under the control panel and once the flap that separates the washer and dryer was removed there are 4 more screws to remove and release the control panel (disconnect wire harness and let panel hang). Once removed, two more screws separate the door/front of the dryer. Remove those and the 4 on the top front of the dryer. When completed the only restriction you have are bracket mounts. Just give a good tug and the front should separate from the body. Thereafter, the drum can be removed by removing the belt first. Reach to the back and depress the spring loaded pully by moving it to the right, releasing the belt. Let the belt hang while you unscrew the the drum screws, 3 located in a triangle pattern inside the drum. Remove them and the drum from out of the dryer. Straight ahead of you is the heater assembly. In my case, only the coil had to b replaced. So it was as simple as removing the old and in with the new. Reverse your disassembly to get reassembly.

Part arrived within days and I just popped the new one back on. Very easy!

Basically followed the You tube videos on standard, stand alone dryers as mine is a stack-able unit. Allow a lot of room to work. Unplug electricity and or the gas, vent hose and water hoses. Start removing screws as per the video, remove Belt then lift up then out the dryer drum. (The drum drops in from above on the back of the unit)the rest is remove and replace as you go. *TIP... I use my phone to photograph tricky areas so I can review as needed. It was more scary then difficult. You can do it!

while it was not a big to do - the knob was/is too large. I ordered it using the number on the back of the old knob but still too large - however we are able to use it.

One day the washer would spill water out on the floor then it would be fine for a week and do it again.Finally it broke,i ordered the new drain pump and installed it in just a few minutes,Hose clamps were a pain,it works just fine now,I would say replace the clamps while you are doing this ,it would make it much easier .Hope this helps !

removed the front then removed the belt that turns the drum pulled the drum strait up from the top then removed the bushing from the back wall put the new one in I also put A little grease in the new bushing to keep it from wearing installed the drum and front. realy easy. I'm A Instructor at A technical collage in Winnfield Louisiana and I used this as A project for my students.

This is complicated repair. It requires removing the dryer unit to get access to the water valve. The repair requires 2 people. One to help stabilize the dryer in the removal process and also to hold the dryer on top of the washer once it has been taken loose. The other person does the actual repair. None of the online techs had a clue on how to do this repair. So this was a learn as you go event. First completely disconnect the unit and move it so you have access clear around the unit, as you will need to be able to get on all 4 sides. Now as you face the unit remove the angled cover panel between the dryer and washer. Behind the cover panel is another panel for rigidity, remove it. Slide your hand down the inside of dryer cover panel on the left side. This will also require a flashlight to see what you're doing. Find the 3 hex headed screws that hold the left side on on the washer. DONOT CONFUSE THESE WITH THE SCREWS ON THE OUTSIDE THAT ARE EASY TO GET TO!! There is one at the rear, then one at the center, and one right up against the edge of the front. The one at the front is almost impossible to get at. Remove the front one FIRST. ALSO LOCATE THE 2 EXTRA HOLES BY THE FRONT SCREW BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE SCREW. Cause when you get ready for the reinstall those 2 holes are an issue. If you wait to remove the front last, the dryer unit is no longer stable and it will BITE you. Now go to the right side and repeat the process. Make sure your helper has a good grip on the dryer! Remove the 2 external screws at the rear where they hold the L bracket on, one on each side. Now the 2 of you pick up the dryer and sit it on the washer. There is just enough slack in the lines, wires to accomplish this without having to disconnect any of them. Replace the water valve, this part is a no brainer. Now for the reassembly. Sit dryer back in its proper place on the washer, have your helper hold it securely. Line up the holes. Install BUT DONOT TIGHTEN the rear and center screw on each side. Now attempt to install the front screws. Make sure you get them in their correct holes, the 2 spare holes are not threaded and larger all they do is grab your screw and make you fight to get it back, which can be done. Attach the 2 external screws on the rear. Tighten all the screws now. Reinstall the structure panel on the front, and then the cover panel. Hook up unit and you're done

remove top lid (snaps and remove ground wire), remove front, 2 Phillips screw; remove nylon stop (Phillips screw) remove belt from motor (access plate 2 Phillips screws). Lift back of drum from pivot, remove from cabinet. check heating element for distorted or damage coils. Straighten or replace. clean felt surface and install new felt with glue. install new sliders in drum. assemble, rotate, listen for scraping. there should be no scraping sound when rotated. scraping can be from the heating element being distorted from lack of air flow because the drum stalled. If not fixed the heating element will be damaged when powered
